Goddamnit, now I feel like I've seen it all. Kisame vs Bee is turning out to be all I could ever have dreamt about. And on top of that, Ao vs Fu is not looking so bad suddenly. Lets take it from the top shall we?
Forget all I've said about humor and funny parts of the manga. This is the funniest piece I've seen since... I can't remember. There has got to be some potential in a Killer Bee spinoff series. That character is getting better by the pages.
By the way, if Killer Bee can spit ink, then... what could... No fuck it. This is too crazy even I can't comprehend the wtf-factor.
Anyways we get an interesting look at something that has been bothering me a bit since last time we saw Killer Bee in action:
Since Taka snatched that tail and they extracted it's chakra, I've been wondering what that would mean for Killer Bee. Would he be missing 1/8 of beast chakra, or would the chakra from the tail somehow "regrow" or be returned, since it was just a cut off limp. Maybe I have missed something, but it doesn't make it easier for me when sabuchan (song guy) counts his tails to 7.
Maybe I suck at counting but take a look at this (hidden) picture:
Hmmmmmm.
Before we handle Ao vs Fu, I'll just show this neat little illustration of why Naruto, as a manga, often is so hard to predict:
I don't recall seing any of those sticks while we we're watching Ao chasing. Of course he marked his path, and of course team Mizukage went to help him, but as recent as last week I wouldn't have thought of this. Call me stupid, but if we are not shown Ao marking his path, then I will asume that he doesn't do it. That's how easy it is for Kishi to fool me.
Ao vs Fu is turning out to be a little more than I personally had expected. Clearly neither Ao or team hokage are fodder-nin, so although there is little actual fighting, we get a lot of precious insight.
First of all the byakugan is very precious to Kirigakure. So the barrier-thing seems very reasonable. But it seems very odd to me that Fu would be willing to sacrfice his own eye so quickly. But then again, havn't we just recently seen why these eye-techniques are so important.
The ninja world is all about deceiving, and not getting deceived. By that, the sharingan, tool of deceiving, and bykugan, tool of... the other, are obviously top class weapons. I didn't get it back when we learned about Hyuga though Neji. I didn't get why these eyes would be so important to others than the people who were best suited to use them. Afterall, the dojutsu work best when used by people with the appropriate blood. So why bother trying to steal the eyes when you are still not going to get the same thing?
The kage-meeting settled this clearly. The hokage, not an uchiha (as far as we know
) used a "stolen" eye to almost deceive and corrupt the great ninja alliance being created. And he would have succeeded if not for another stolen eye. It must be clear to everyone by now how powerfull and important even these stolen eyes are in the ninja world power balance.
So when Fu immediately tried to cut out his own eye, it does not simply tell us that Fu is a brainwashed Root-slave. First of all it reminds us how important these eyes are, even to a faction that has plenty of such in it's power (I'm talking about Konoha). But it also says something about what Root-members are really trained for. Making tough decisions, and making them fast. I predict the outcome of this to be Ao being saved by team Mizukage at the last minute. So when Fu tried to cut out the eye immidiately instead of setting up the suicide jump, it was probably because he knew how important the bykugan was compared to his own. His own eye would indeed be a small sacrifice to rid Kiri of their byakugan, and why waste time when it could be done in seconds.
Now let's discuss briefly an idea that ought to be occurring in every readers head: Does Fu belong to the Yamanaka clan? (Ino's clan).
Reasons why he might:
1: Mind transfer jutsu. The trademark of the Yamanaka clan.
2: Hairstyle. Whether you like it or not, this is an indication:
Reasons why he might NOT:
1: The Yamanaka run a flower shop, Fu is a member of Root. Nuff said.
Well this might be a way to finally make Ino just a bit more than just Sakura's rival. Then again it might just be a weird coincidence.
Anyways back to Killer Bee vs Kisame:
"Sup Bee?"
Well well well. Naruto is not the only one who can go freaky mode with his biju. He choses to go a "less destructive"-mode and this is what we get? Now that is hardcore. To noones surprise Kisame is about to get smacked.
Note: In this form I count 7 tails.
This is one hell of an epic fight. Kisame is a pretty powerful akatsuki, but even he can't dodge this attack from Killer Bee.
Now I've seen everything. Kisame sitting there, with a big hole in the chest and ribcage showing. But for some reason with a hint of a smile on his face.
I'm gonna finish off with just looking at the last page:
Damn. I don't really have to say anything do I? He merges with samehada, into this, to steal a word, grotesque figure. At this point he can probably drain chakra simply by attacking, and on top of that, he makes a sphere of water AT THE SIZE OF MOUNTAINS!!!?!
Granted, the 8-tails being an octopus, this might not be the worst of conditions, but GODDAMN that is a powerful akatsuki. He would have lost to Itachi in an instant, but apart from him, who from akatsuki would be able to take on Kisame? Noone I tell ya.
Rating of this weeks review:
I'm very split. This could be a 10. It is definitely a 9, so all there is left, is to convince myself, that this chapter has that little extra something. Lets just say it has. 10/10.
A final note. I consider myself a speed reviewer. My thoughts are not of quality, but of speed. So when it takes me a couple of hours to make this review, I feel like I have to explain something.
How did I spend these 2 hours:
5 % of the time on writing the review.
15 % of the time on researching and editing pictures.
80 % of the time on looking for a decent picture of Ino.
