So guys, let’s speculate about SWORD members and his purpose in OP world.

I can’t see Akainu been their leader. Not at all. I think their leader can be Garp, Sengoku or Kuzan.

I see Fujitora, Smoker, Tashigi, Hina, Brannew and Helmeppo as members. They looks like the only Marines that are truly good.

Their purpose? Been a group of good Marines, that not follow the Absolute Justice Akainu wants to imprint in the world. They want to destroy the bad Pirates, free the people of their reigns of terror. Kaido and BM are their most important targets, that’s why they are working for so long to infiltrate in Kaido’s crew. We don’t know if there’s someone infiltrate in BM crew, but a chance to take down 2 Yonko in one time is a great thing. I see them as a group of Marines that can fight alongside good Pirates like Luffy to achieve a same goal, like setting free the people of Wano.

Now I want to know what you guys think about SWORD. Who you think are their members and what is their purpose?

Yes! I was thinking about this and mentioned something similar in a thread yesterday. The fact that they didn't like that CP0 was in Wano could be a sign that they are a splinter group of the Marines who are working from the inside to change things. Kuzan would obviously be a member. Smoker wasn't at Punk Hazard if that is the case, but afterwards may have joined. If Koby is in, I'd guess Helmeppo is as well since he's so attached to Koby.

I agree with you that Garp and Sengoku would be members. Which would also likely make them against the Celestial's. Almost a revolutionary army from the inside of the government!

It’s your comment that makes me do this thread ;)

Yes, they can be a group that works against the Celestial Dragons to. I like your comment, of a revolutionary army inside the government! I already imagine in the final army them joining forces with the Grand Fleet to take down the government

Y'all basically already said everything.

They are most certainly a splinter group of Marines who are looking to change the system on their side.

I think Garp and Sengoku are aware of it, but they aren't leaders or members. The are likely offering support from the side.

Aokiji, Fujitora, Green Bull, Smoker, Tashigi, Hina, and some others are probably in as well.

I think maybe there whole purpose maybe to capture pirates, like the main attacking force for the marines. The thing what I find strange about them is that there is a clear sign that the members are good guys. Knowing that the marines answer to the five gorosei from cp and akainu makes me question the purpose of sword. I have a theory that one of the gorosei isn't much of a sheep compared to the rest of them. Maybe he created sword to one day be used against im

I think OTsuru might be a part of it.... Garp is less likely in my opinion...

I think sengoku is the leader of SWORD and most marines, including the admirals, aren't aware of it. it would go something like this...

Drake became a pirate in order to infiltrate kaido's crew. Meaning that sword was functioning well before sengoku retired. As in, sengoku probably started it and secretly retained leadership over it while keeping others in the dark. As for why I think even other high ranking marines are unaware of SWORD... Not to long ago we saw sengoku being the one to direct akainu towards wano. Sengoku had just about the same information as everyone else but only he made the case that going to wano was indispensable. Why? Because drake was feeding him information and thus knew that shit was actually about to hit the fan. I can't imagine akainu receiving information from drake directly, learning everything he had to say, and still needing further encouragement to make a move.

Ah, remember Sengoku and Corazon? Might that have been sword as well?

Yes, I think that Corazon has a SWORD member in his time and Sengoku is their leader, at least in that time.

Jango, Fullbody, and T-Bone? Or are they too weak to qualify?

I just don’t remember them hahahahahaha but Jango and Fullbody must be in SWORD if Hina is part of the group

To be honest, who’s T-Bone?

I forgot Tsuru too, she’s from the time of Garp and Sengoku and seems to be a good Marine

T-bone is the marine who zoro fought on the way to enies lobby

Tsuru is pretty strong. In law flashback, we saw doflamingo panicked when he saw tsuru so she must be quite strong, at least as strong as YC

Thanks man! I don’t know, he can be part of SWORD or not, he have so little screen time and in this little time he didn’t show anything... Just don’t know.

If I’m not wrong, Tsuru is said to be the strongest woman in the Marines no? Or it’s just a headcanon that I have?

Yes, her vivre card implies she's possibly the strongest female officer.

That said, I just wanted to share my thoughts on SWORD. I see it as an honest endeavour and therefore would include Marine Officers who follow the moral justice route, rather than Absolute Justice. It also seems to be kept separate from the WG's eyes, so I don't know how much Akainu knows.

I could see someone like Sengoku/Garp leading it and keeping it a secret from any of the admirals and the fleet admiral, as they report directly to the WG. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if say Fujitora was involved in it.

Likely people like Hina, Smoker are aware of it, or even members. I could even see Kuzan being a part of it; Sengoku/Garp setting up his defeat to be a believable exit for him to become a pirate associate.

Yea I believe SWORD is an old Black Ops Sengoku put together before he stepped down as Fleet Admiral. Similar to Corazon who he enlisted as a special Naval Officer.

I like the plot twist that Drake is really a Marine deep undercover. I kinda suspected that at 1st appearance, n doubted my doubt after backstory and NW movements.

So we know Drake sought out Kaido to join his crew, and now know that it's been part of his mission to do infilitrate the crew. I'm wondering why Kaido? was it the easiest of the 4 emperors to work yourself into?

I think yes, he is the easiest to infiltrate since he like to take strong captains under his wing. But I see another motive to infiltrate in his crew. Kaido want to star the greatest war the world ever sees right? It’s a good motive to want to eliminate him first.

And since I think Kuzan is another member of SWORD, the motives I see for him to infiltrate in BB crew is because he is the most dangerous Yonko now. 2 years ago he’s a no one and now he’s one of the strongest and most influential persons in the world. And seems to know a lot of the world.

The most dangerous persons in the world in my opinion are BB, Dragon and Luffy. But I think Luffy and Dragon are more dangerous for the WG, not the world as a whole like BB. That’s why I think the SWORD wants to infiltrate in BB crew but not in RA.

We can probably only answer that after we find out the actual intention of SWORD.

If I had to guess though, I imagine it's mainly due to the fact that Kaido resides within Wano borders. With information next to impossible to get out of there, Drake probably went deep undercover to gain access to not only Kaido's status, but the status of Wano in general.

It's telling that Akainu still has no idea of Wano's strength or even aware of the fact that Kaido has basically taken it over. Drake has been with the crew for at least 2 years by now, if they were working together, he would've known.

Too bad Oda didn't create a female Admiral post time skip. Would be cool to have another strong woman pirate (just thinking of this with mention of Tsuru being strong)

What @eefrit mentioned about Wano.
All the info the WG has on Wano's is through CP0 under the table dealings.
Seems that 5 Elders haven't been sharing much info with Fleet Admirals.

Doesn't Wano craft (all) Seastone material. Or was it they are the only fine craftsmen of Seastone i.e Seastone Nail/Bullet

CP0 has info on Wano. Not much but more than Fleet Admiral Akainu it seems.

However they do know Kaido also resides inside its borders.
