Let the Russian answer this question.

First of all, why on hell's earth would you people want to buy cheap vodka in first place? Want hungover much? -.-
Secondly, vodka is far from tasteless, at least not the good brands. The taste varies from bit nutty to slightly milky. If you drink it without mixing it with all kind of juices or sodas of course. -.-;

A good vodka you can easily recognize when you drink, it in fact appears that it's not burning your throat when drinking a cup. Unfortunately this law is not helping you in the beverage store. Brands I would highly recommend are the Russian Standard, Parliament, uhm there are not many other good ones exporting from Russia but if you see 5 Ozer, it's not bad too. From the American brand, which most likely are easier to get Skyy Vodka and Three Sixty are my favourites - rest is pretty much crap.

Thanks Russian guy ! My problem with Smirnoff, as well as regular Eristoff, is the burning sensation you mentioned. I'll be on the lookout for the brands you suggested, although to be honest where I live there's nowhere that offers that big a selection when it comes to alcohol. I'll have to try some quality liquor stores.

And thanks you other guys too! Oh, and I think that by tasteless and oderless it means that easy to mix with other drinks and that it doesn't leave that much of an odor in your breath.

I forgot about this topic... I'm on vacation and I've been drinking like crazy in the last weeks , while I usually drink less than 3 times a month.
But I'm sober for 6 days now, It IS something on this CRAZY vacations.

Anyway, about vodka... I usually drink Sky on my class parties(Smirnioff too), it's good and affordable. The guys over here usually goes crazy about Absolut, but it's too expensive for college students like me.

and I end up throwing up in the subway.

I meant as far as getting drunker faster. Everyone knows that. But when you turn your stomach into a witches brew of different spirits, you're more likely to get sick.

Yeah, I hear that all the time. It doesn't really do that to me, I mean make me sick to the point of vomiting or anything. It can make you feel a little bad though the next day.

Do not mix beer with wine! It makes your stomach feel so wrong... It may just be me, but while mixing certain drinks can get you sick, if you mix beer with wine you're asking for stomach pains.

Got really drunk right around the start of February and while I really enjoyed myself before falling asleep/passing out, getting up and going home was the hardest thing ever. Seeing my reflection in the mirror was surreal, I looked as pale as Sai from Naruto (lol)! The worst thing about hangovers is that I end up wasting a whole day due to feeling sick as hell...
