I watched Russia vs Portugal, and I know that Ronaldo had picked up a knock in El Clasico, but Portugal just looked poor overall and deservedly lost.
I didn't had the chance to watch the game ... it aired at 4:00 pm here :lmao
But based on what i have seen on the net, both teams were mediocre, the only difference was that one score and the other didn't ...nothing that surprises me from Portugal anyway ... we only tend to get serious on the final phases of the competitions, which is kinda dumb ... if it keeps like this, we might be going to playoffs and we might stupidly don't manage to be on WC 2014 :notrust

So, this has been bothering me for quite a while and since the spotlight is on Suarez right now being called a cheat by everyone and their grandmother, what do you guys think about him? I'm curious to know.

Man I need to stop reading comments on Liverpool articles..... the level of hatred everyone has for Liverpool FC is really laughable. Though there are some funny ones :XD

Suarez does dive entirely too much; however, if Liverpool was a team in the CL every year, and therefore good domestically, he wouldn't be getting so much hate. I don't like Suarez, but that's how the cookie crumbles. The Evra affair turned a lot of people against him.

I like the guy. I don't give a crap about the Evra thing (Messi, Higuain, Gago and so many others have been acused for something like that before, but as they play in La Liga "nothing happened"). He plays wonderfuly.

Terry is the only controversial guy I don't like.

Eiji, are you actually Argentinian? If so, then you're just making excuses for your countrymen and/or other South Americans.. :P

So many guys do the racist trash talk, so it's all roughly equal, just some get caught, whereas others don't.

What, may I ask, do you specifically have against Terry? I don't have a huge problem with the affair with Bridge's ex-girlfriend or the thing with Anton, but I do have a problem with the Lampard, Terry, and someone else thing where they were drunk and heckled American tourists after 9/11.

I'm not defending any south american lol, it bothers me that Suarez was banned 8 matches for something that stupid just because it's the EPL (knowing that players like Messi do that A LOT, with Drenthe, Diarra, Royston and many others). In Argentina / Uruguay / Chile calling other person "negro" isn't an insult.
I don't think racism is an OK thing, but neither is insulting your rival using other methods that aren't racism, everything should be the same. Besides, it's something that happens inside the field, and that's where it should stay. He didn't do ANYTHING like that outside the field.

Those were Terry, Morris, Lampard and Gudjohnsen (although I like Lampard). I don't like Terry because of that, and the Bridge thing (that's something you don't do to a friend, it's not good not only for your team mate, but your team). Something like that happened some years ago in River Plate (Ameli and Tuzzio, the team's CBs). 3 or 4 players wanted to kick Ameli's butt... River lost to Sao Paulo at Libertadores 2005 semifinals... Ameli didn't play again in River Plate, he played 6 more months in Colón and decided to retire.

So, Ameli and Terry are jerks for me lol.

I'm not up for a discussion of this whole thing right now, although I do agree that eight games was rather harsh.

It was his ex-girlfriend...I don't have a problem with that part, but I do have a problem with it because Terry cheated on his wife.

All in all though, I don't care what players do off the field, assuming it's not something heinous like murder or Michael Vick and the dog fighting, and I judge football players for their play on the field for the most part.

Ex-girlfriend? I thought she was his wife at that time, it's weird because the news here didn't say she was her ex (now I've searched it on wiki, I think Bridge has never been married lol).

I still don't like Terry though lol.

I don't know. Liverpool doesn't always get hate, although plenty do hate them. :P

You didn't see anyone hating on Torres when he played for Liverpool because he was generally quiet and produced; however, once he came to us, he stopped producing and starting talking to the media, so it was understandable when the hate came there.

The thing about divers... well, mostly everyone dives, tons of players on regular basis, but only Ronaldo and Suarez get all the hate...
I don't think that's fair.

Some quite interesting international results. Germany choked away a 4-0 lead and ended up with a 4-4 draw at home against Sweden.

Now, for France, terrible, terrible luck. It's hard enough to score against Spain under normal circumstances, but when the refs are against you, it's nearly impossible, although France did get a deserved equalizer with nearly the last play of the match. France should've won 2-1.

It's not the diving I'm really wondering about... almost all players dive. What I'm wondering,is why so much hating and focusing on Suarez? There are far worst diving in the EPL than he does. Though I do admit he looks for fouls almost all the time.

It happened to Ronaldo a couple of seasons ago. I guess this season they're picking on Suarez. I don't think he is guilty of diving every single time he gets tackled or whatnot. The refs in the past couple of weeks have been kinda strict with giving penalties away. I'm not suggesting it's fair or unfair but they clearly won't be giving them out so freely for the time being. Suarez doesn't help himself either with all the ranting and unnecessary arguements on field.

Also, now that everyone knows what he's like defenders from the opposing side try and take advantage of it now. Waiting for him to let loose. You guys need urgent back up in the attacking department in January. Dunno how you going to manage by the end of the season. <_<

Yeah Koscielny said he hated to play against him because he's a *cheat* :XD I think he got nutmegged too many times :lmao

Hmmm...with Borini gone, and Suarez soon to be banned for some reason, yeah we really need a finisher up in front. I think if we bring in a top striker or two and a left back just in case, we can do much better.

Where are you going to find a top striker who wants to go to Liverpool? They're not going to bring in European glory or win important trophies right now, so...

They don't have the money like Chelski or Man City :P

Well, not really a top striker, but someone who can finish his chances, because we can more than create the chances. I think we're still the team that has hit the post more than any other this season.... Suarez can't do it on his own. Maybe if Gerrard can put on his shooting boots we can score some more goals also.

Sinclair on loan from City? :derp

Rodgers will probably end up going for some unknown random player from the most obscure club in Europe or something. I don't think he would be the type to go for a good forward "known" player around the popular leagues.

As long as it's not a overrated, overpriced player in the EPL, its all good.
