Anyway, I never really cared about groups in tournaments. If you wanna be the best, you either beat big teams now, or you do it later, nothing really changes.

We pick up Basel as the third team in our group. Pretty good.

Anyway, I never really cared about groups in tournaments. If you wanna be the best, you either beat big teams now, or you do it later, nothing really changes.

No. No. No. No. You want the easiest teams to play as far along as possible. So you can worry about other tournaments. You dont want to be facing huge games midweek after your normal league game. Fuck that. You want to go to fucking basel, kick it around a bit, win 2-0 and come back comfortable and hope to do that as long as it is feasible. If you're lucky you can get to the semi's like that. That's what everyone wants.

Imo Barcelona's group is the group of death though.

The "or" is not come third place. The "or" is win by playing against shitty teams. Which is infinetly more preferable.

Dunno, it's simply the way I see it. Prolly because South America doesn't have the same amount of great teams as Europe (I'm talking about Libertadores' groups here) or because Argentina always gets the death group in WCs and always manages to easily get to the next round (except in 2002, fuck it). I know a WC =/= as a CL btw.

Agreed. Especailly as UEFA's co-efficient system treats a win against Barcelona or Wigan as the same. Ask Celtic who had to start qualifying even earlier this year than they did last season.

All in all, I'm not really upset that we lost. We more or less outplayed Bayern (we scored when down a man) and only a magical ending at the death saved them. Lukaku missing the penalty isn't any good.
