I thought to start playing Morrowind, but I didn't when I knew the way to get exp points: run, jump, swimm. I was shocked
thats why i love it. its a SKILLbased rpg. instead of getting a bunch of xp from killing something. you get better by doing stuff repeatedly. i mean think about it. how do you get good at doing stuff? by training that thing. example: i used to box. if i needed to get better at boxing, then i boxed a lot. just repeat punches against a sandbag to get the feel of how i should do it. repeated training is the key.
and Morrowind uses this in a really good way in my opinion. most rpg games give you a bunch of xp when you kill something. and as always, the bigger the thing the more xp you get.
but they dont care how you kill it. if i were to be sneaky and hide in a bush and shoot with my bow and then jump up a tree and continue the shooting from there. i should get better at my bow skill and maybe in my jumping skill too if i decide to jump to another location. and if i decide to run around i should get better at running.
if i choose to just walk up to the big thing and start hacking with my sword i should get better at my sword skill. its all about how you do things. the more you use your skills the better you become. just like real life
and their races are strange.
dark elf
wood elf
high elf
orc
Imperial (a human race)
breton (another human race)
redguard (another human race)
khajiit (the cat race)
argonian (the lizard people)
nord (the viking/barbarian human race)
seems like pretty standard fantasy to me. which ones do you find strange?
