I believe I saw Angry Birds was $4 on PSN.. Its only $.99 as an app.... what gives?

Anyways, after getting a PSP a week ago, I'm sort of dumbfounded why it wasn't more of a hit. It's basically like playing PS2 games, but in your hand. I guess it had to do with not having pokemon good game support? Though, I can't understand why. It's a good piece of hardware.

Edit: I bought Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (and God of War: Chains of Olympus). Square Enix really needs to get their act together and make a KH3 for the PS3.

LOL Nomura said that people at Disney, Square Enix, and the fans are bugging him about it. Unfortunately, he has a lot on his plate (FFXIII VS, Kingdom Hearts 3D, etc.). I don't think it will be out until next year or two years from now.

the battery life is poor and not much choice with games.

Yep, the battery life the PSP isn't that great and when it was launched, the handheld didn't have a lot of good games.

I guess it depends on what kinds of games you like because I've gotten a lot of JRPG games for the PSP.

The PSP doesn't cost that much anymore, but buying for those 5 to 10 games, I would to play, not really. Will waiting for a 3DS Lite be worth it, just for a longer battery life?^^ I don't really know.

I haven't noticed the batter length not being that great. But then again, I play it sitting on my couch and not traveling so having it plugged into the wall doesn't really bother me that much.

Besides KH I & II the only other KH game I played was the PS2 version of Chain of Memories... which I never finished or liked. Birth by Sleep is actually quite good in my opinion as its closer to core mechanics of KH. You have three characters to choose from; each story interweaves with the others and opens different parts of the story/worlds you visit to be opened and explored. It's also a prequel to KH, so it basically kick starts the entire series.

Gamespot had its own awards event, and there was a lot of Mass Effect 2 and Starcraft 2, but the editors choice was mostly Red Dead Redemption(?)...doess someone know the game...is is that good?

Yeah I played that game quite a while.Though,to be honest I don't understand the hype around it?To me it was pretty much a medium game in quality.Even though it had some really cool things in it.Mass Effect 2 totally deserved some awards,the same with Starcraft 2.

Saturn stores* in Germany have a nice offer currently, selling 3 Games for a total of 50€ out of a certain list. For PC this contains:
the latest medal of honor, Battefield Bad company 2, Mass effect 2, Darksiders, Anno 1404, Civ 4, Silent Hunters 5, Sims 3, King Arthur, Harry Potter, Football Manager 2011 and Dragon Age Origins.

Guess I'll be buying some these days. Probably Battlefield: BC2, Medal of Honor and Mass Effect 2. Their original prices are labelled as 44€/44€/22€, which would mean that I could save a lot - even though these prices are probably lower in the right internet sources anyways.

*I think they aren't well known in Europe, they're a part of Media Markt company. Effectively selling the same stuff but attempting to have a different image/trying to look like rivalry to media markt even though they're obviously not.


Just found an event/price money table for the successful counter-strike 1.6 team Natus Vincere (NaVi), a Ukrainian team founded only in 2009 (with players who already were known as good back then), skyrocketing into beeing top favorite of every event ever since:

If I didn't miss any numbers, this adds to a total won price money of 221.750$ last year, not bad.

Not that bad of an offer, but most of those games are out for over an year already. Civ 5 is out already, Darksiders was up for 10€ on Steam over christmas, BF:BC2 is quiet old too and Vietman didn't seem to appease the fans. Got ME2 already, just as DA:O, wish it was the edition with Awakening. MoH was up for ca 15€ at Amazon some days ago and it appears to be ****. :Ü

I don't know for how long it runs, but it was announced on 20th of january only so it definitly still is.

@Schabrak: Yeah, the price differences amongst these are big, some are available for 10-20€ already while others still are amongst 40€+.

English "Gamer's Voice" organisation says, that they will charge Activision with consumer protection laws for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
They state that they aren't so naive to believe that games could be free of bugs, but that they recieved so many complaints about stupid bugs in CoD:BO, which even months after the release still exist, that they feel like consumers were abused as beta-testers and that such an unfinished game should not be sold. Thus they don't plan on tolerating Activision's behaviour.

Sony has officially announced the PSP2. Going by the codename, NGP ("Next Generation Portable" ), the new PSP2 will have 3G and will be out at the end of the year. Its battery life is comparable to the PSP.

In its press release announcing the hardware today, Sony made note of the following features:

OLED Screen
The system's 5 inch OLED display and high performance CPU and GPU will allow for high quality visuals.
User Interface
Front and rear touch panel allow for such interactions as touch, grab, grace, push and pull via finger movements.
Super Oval Design
The system's shape was designed to fit comfortably into users' hands.
Dual Analog Sticks
Two sticks will allow a broader range of games to be brought to the portable format.
Live Area
This is a space provided to all NGP games. Players will be able to access information on games through here, and can view an activity log of others that could trigger real time communication between players.
Near
NGP will have location-based services, one of which is a pre-installed app called Near. Players can use this to find what friends in the vicinity are playing now or were playing recently.
New Game Medium
NGP uses a new game medium, small flash memory cards that are dedicated for NGP software titles. The cards can store the full game along with save data content and add-on game content. The flash format will also allow sony to provide higher capacity in the future.
Cameras and other Interfaces
The system has rear and back cameras and three motion sensors: gyroscope, accelerometer and electronic compass.
PlayStation Suite
PlayStation Suite, announced today, is a cross platform framework that will bring PlayStation content to Android mobile devices. All PS Suite titles released on Android devices will be playable on NGP. Sony says that it believes this will give the system the casual experiences that typify the mobile market place.

  And hey it's gonna be affordable and not gonna cost 599$. Lol what a promise, maybe 499$ than. Games announced are: Uncharted[Sony Bend], Killzone, WipeOut, Resistance[Nihilistic Software], Monster Hunter, LittleBigPlanet, Call of Duty, Hustle Kings and Hot Shots Golf. It will also support PSP[those downloaded from PSN], PSOne, and PSPmini games. They will be released on flash cards, which should boost the speed and loading times quiet a lot. Battery life is expected to be as four to six hour long.

Sony has clarified the information about the NGP's 3G network. There will be two models - one with the 3G Network (you might have to sign a contract to use it) and one without it.

The NGP will not have 3D features according to Sony. The price has not been determined yet, but Sony hopes to make the price reasonable.

These third-party publishers will support the NGP. You can read some of their comments as well.

Another Sony product, Xperia Play (Playstation Phone), hasn't been announced yet but you can check out someone trying the device.

In other news, Nintendo stated that there are no short-term plans to makea 3DS Lite.

No short term plans means two years instead of one? It's so obvious, that they are already working on the DS3Lite, even if it's just the design. I would rather know how long the lifecycle will be.

- Nintendo has released info about 3DS Update Plans. It will begin in May and the first firmware update will include eShop, internet browser, and the ability to transfer DSi download titles to the 3DS. The company also posted info about 3DS features, which include 3DS Memo, Friends List, Notification Applet and Internet Browser. It will also have a power save mode. - In other news, Nintendo has announced new Wii titles, which are Tower of Pandora, Rhythm Heaven, and Kirby's Star.

Right now, the Bacchus OSL Finals are running. One of the major Starcraft: Broodwar-tournaments of South Korea, where it's still as popular as ever. The finalists are Byung-Goo 'Stork' Song and Myung Hoon 'Fantasy' Jung.
Usually Flash and Jaedong are expected to participate in most finals - often clashing against each other -, they're the major favorites. This time none of them made it, but it will be a very high level interesting match.
