Re: The Games Hangout Thread -E3 Edition-

June 5th-7th.

I'm trying to find a link for the live shows right now, but I think last year, I went to kotaku.

Links to the live-streams: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/05/31/e3-2012-press-conference-schedule.aspx

Or this one for every conference, just leave it on, or go there, when they start: http://www.youtube.com/user/E3

And the next one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKRWubusKBU 24 minutes to go.

Boycott Kotaku and the crap it has become.

Loved Halo 4; Dead Space 3 or more like Dead Planet 3, while Lost Planet 3 seems to be the real successor to LP1. Rest was mostly meh and not exciting at all. I hope Sim City Social will kick Zynga's ass. They just should have made a good new Burnout instead of NfS:MW... the lack of new IPs is highly depressing. E3 till now: 2-3/10

Re: The Games Hangout Thread -E3 Edition-

After the FarCry3 trailer[which was one of the best till now] she said she wanted to grab a gun a shoot a tiger too.... She looks nice, but I can't take her seriously. :P

Are the enemies dumbed down in the AC3 preview? They watch as he kills all the comrades or was it always like this in AC2 too? Love how one can run through/ontop the trees, maybe it's time to play an Ubisoft game again.

The presentations get better and better, what's is to be expected from Sony and tomorrow Nintendo?

edit: Forgot the Co-host, he is the worst! Does she wear ivory around her neck? Oo

I am the only one not that pumped up with AC3? I thought the same as you, Schabrack. The enemies were...I don't know, dumb.

Loved the Zombie U trailer, actually.

Not when kids around the world use their Wii or whatever to dance to new pop songs. Maybe it's the singstar or Guitar Hero phenomenon. They wouldn't have showcased those two dance games in such a big manner, if they weren't big arleady.

Looks like the reason The Last Guardian didn't show up at this year's E3 was because of technical difficulties.

That's a pity. Hope we'll be able to play this game soon.

Re: The Games Hangout Thread -E3 Edition-

Thus far the things from this E3 I care about most are....

I liked what I've seen of the new Assassin's Creed, but it's story is really going to have to regain my trust. The last game's story was just not something I was a fan of. And without a good story the Assassin's Creed experience falls apart for me. The new rustic setting does seems very promising though.

Dust 514 continues to look like a must play as PS3 owner (it's free to play afterall). Sci-fi battlefield style FPS + Economics. No real new info but still sounds awesome.

-----------------------------------------------

I'm a little surprised there is so little in terms of true RPG's. Ni No Kuni is pretty much it. The rest was pretty much just seemed like MMO stuff; which I do not care about.

The new Batman lego game seems to be highly entertaining:

Will take this over any new FPS nowadays.

I see, that the Mass Effect 3 DLC is coming out on Tuesday.

http://blog.bioware.com/2012/06/22/mass-effect-3-extended-cut-2/ said:
The Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut is a downloadable content pack that will expand upon the events at the end of Mass Effect 3. Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Extended Cut will include deeper insight to Commander Shepard’s journey based on player choices during the war against the Reapers. The Extended Cut will be available to download at no additional charge for Mass Effect 3 game owners starting on June 26 for PC and Xbox 360 customers worldwide. Playstation 3 customers in North America will be able to download the Extended Cut DLC on June 26 and the rest of the world on July 4.
After reading the press release it's hard to shake this sinking feeling I've got...

I want to believe that they addressed the issues fans like myself had with the end of the game but the way that press release is worded doesn't sound good.

Particularly the phrase "deeper insight".

Because that makes me think they may have shy'd away from actually adding real content but rather polishing up the ending. Which, if true, is just going to start the whole firestorm all over again. Because no matter how much they polish it, if they don't address the core deficiencies with the lack of meaningful choices, it'll still be one of the greatest narrative disgraces in all of gaming history.

The only way to really appease people like me is to not half ass it and actually write in multiple endings, like they originally promised. Hopefully, I'm wrong and they actually did that but.....we'll see.

Nintendo 3DS XL revealed:
http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/06/22/nintendo-reveals-3ds-xl

So apparently there's an XL version of the 3DS now. I haven't purchased a 3DS yet because I've been waiting for the inevitable new version, though I'm not sure this is what I was hoping for. Sure having a much bigger screen is cool and all, but wouldn't that mess up the resolution of older games played on the system (a problem which even the regular 3DS had I heard). Plus the design looks kind of plain when compared to the previous model :/.

Just played it. Muuuuuch better.

It's not perfect of course but obviously a complete redo of the whole last part of the game would have been an unrealistic goal. As it is now it's completely tolerable.

It's good that they extended them, even retconned some parts, as they were utter crap before, now it's tolerable, but still badly written Imo. The rest of the game was good, but the ending, nah, not so much.

Here's the big thing to me

The important thing is that you now have a 4th option to tell that Star Child to take his 3 choices and shove them up his non-corporial ass. Technically this results in the universe ending and the Reapers winning but it's implied that on the next cycle, due to the information you leave behind, the reapers and their annoying little boss loses once and for all; and probably not on his terms.

Intelligent life in the Galaxy may have gotten snuffed out once more, but this resulted from my version of Shepard actually doing something that fits his character so I can live with that.

Was it good? No, as long as the basic end of the game includes that anti-climactic god child crap it's not going to be good; but removing that from the game at this point is not a realistic goal. This isn't an ending I like, it's an ending ending I can live with; and that's more than I thought I'd ever get.

Assassin's Creed III will have a collector's edition (two versions - one for console and the other for PC). Here is the newest trailer:

Oh, no two or three versions as before? CE's are highly useless nowaday. I don't want to buy something that's hidden on the disc anyway.
