oh which reminds me I haven't started on my distance and endurance training as well. not one bit.
It's always about mental capacity to force yourself to train. I have the same problems. :))

I'm taking up running now as a form of cardio, so any advice or benefits of doing so?

I did the same, all I have is one thing which perhaps might bug you, too (though probably not):
I didn't run for a long time while keeping up cardio in form of bicycling, and the main problem after that are the muscles/tendons at the lower chinbone which are responsible for absorbing the shock of the landing foot. Those started to hurt after a while of running, often for several days.

If that happens: Make sure to run uphills, which is always better for joints, bones and tendons as the landing is obviously softer, and to stretch these muscles specifically (even though that's only limited possible for those to my knowledge).

Well, my stamina still sucks but at least I'm doing regular training currently - which wasn't easy to pick up next to a 40hr/week job - and succeeded in losing weigth. Down to 68,5kg now, compared to 80,0kg in december.
For some weird reason my weigth always remains constant during working week and then constantly drops between friday evening and sunday.

I need to work out and to lose weight in the summer. I find it hard to think when I'm dieting while working.

Yep work requires more food than usual, my weight is only dropping at weekends, too. Even though I restrain myself all week long - not to the amount that I'ld be actually hungry, but still a little below my appetite.

What training regime do you follow? When I started to lose weight two years back, I only did a few cardio while limiting the amount of food I eat. I'll go back to that program once computation of grades is over and summer finally approaches.

Not much, really. Job is pretty exhausting.
Only daily thing I do is getting to job and back by bike, which is around 12km/day with some hills. Then I'm running every 2-3 days in average, but as I said my stamina still isn't good (especially with working 40hrs/week, certainly reducing the distance I can run further).

I'm not at a gym or something, so all I do besides that are some basic excercises like pushups, chinups, situps and dumbell sets. Also, not on a regular basis, I want to increase training and perhaps visit a gym after beeing done with my job though.

It's a good thing you can do bikes in your town. In my town, it's nearly impossible to bike around because of heavy cars and trucks in the road.

Man, I feel so damn envious you can work on your own program.

How comes, is there a program that has been forced upon you? :amuse
Well, this city is medium bike friendly. There are some German cities which are much better for bikes, but it's OK here. And traffic isn't that bad at 5:30 in the morning (neither at 14:20 when I get back).

Well, I'm referring to my self-discipline. The problem is that I can't seem to get myself started on a diet and exercise program.

Is it true that in Germany, most students (even in college) prefer to ride on bikes than on vehicles?

Ah, allright. I guess for self-discipline it's even helpful that I got that job.

I don't know about the statistics, but most pupils or students are coming either by buy or bike. When I was at gymnasium, perhaps like... 35-40% were coming by bike I think. Just guessing though.
It's somewhat of a cliche here that all students would be going by bike, though it's obviously not true :amuse

If so, Germany must be a very clean country. Also, many Germans must be physically fit because of their preference of bikes.

Haha, usually Germans are rather known for worshipping cars :XD
And, yeah, that's what our streets and most people look like, too :oh
After all, even if the relation bikes and students is true, it's not like the rest of population would give a damn. Perhaps that's a reason why people think that students would always ride bikes - simply because nobody else does! :D

Well, the statistical coherence between degree of education and healthiness/physical fitness isn't new nor special for Germany after all.

steel, good luck riding a bike to school in Manila, lol.

yeah thanks for reminding me that summer is around the bend, which means... BIKINI SEASON!!! :narutokyu

Since I lost a lot of weight and I'm a bum right now, I lost my will to do anything except read manga. I'm not gaining the weight back because my diet is still controlled, but the muscles are getting kinda... lazy. I need to tone up before summer :onoz

Hehe, totally unrelated for me to reading manga though :D
When my body feels to wrecked up to do anything more productive then reading, then training probably was good :amuse
Though I definitly overdid it on thursday. After work on friday my back felt like someone ripped it open and played banjo on the muscle strings.

Good luck baboy, work hard :whoabunny

baboy is Filipino for pig.

You should change username, baboy. More like sexysai than baboysai.

But I have special permission to call you baboy-chan, right? :worrybunny

Anyway, just wanted to point that for those of you who have androids/iPhones there are a sick app called "CardioTrainer" that is dope if you're a regular cardio exerciser. It has GPS, counts calories, awesome schedule for your work outs, intergrated media player, everything you need basically.

Just thought I'd share. Try it out if you have a compatible phone, it's dope! (and free :p)

ah right. And if you buy a Nike+ it hooks up with that app as well.
