im gon fill in for the head chef while he's on vacation, so ill be a temporary head chef over the summer though...

slow chefs suck, i hate em, damn it.. slow chefs should realize that they're too slow and either pick up the pace or just quit by themselves, they sholdnt waste the head chefs time, makin him fire them... keh..,
the head chef should always give the pleasure of firing useless cooks/chefs to the sous chef

oh yeah forgot, LH, how did ya manage the tips at ya restaurant? did you gather it all n shared it? and if so, did the kitchen get a cut?

No, kitchen didn't get tipped out. Each waiter keeps what they make on their own, and each is supposed to tip out a certain percentage to the bussers and bartenders. Kitchen, managers and hosts/hostesses work on wage alone.

Kitchen: depends. Dishwashers, line cooks, etc, make anywhere from 7$-10$ per hour. Our top 2 or 3 chefs make an annual salary, rather than hourly, I think. Not sure how much, though I assume it's not too bad.

As a busser, I made $4.50 per hour, plus tip out from the waiters.

Waiters: Typically between $2.00 - $2.50 per hour, before tips. Basically it covers taxes :/

I don't think I could ever be a waitress...I'm happy with my current job.

i get like $18 per hour, but then again, i get no tip at the place im currently working at, but im gon aim higher i want like $24-$25 per hour in two years, but since that wont happen im thinkin of retireing from the kitchen and start designing t-shirts, get dreadlocks, smoke pot and live in a tiny apartment >_>

Two more exams left, biology and chemistry. Tuesday and Wednesday, then im free. (Although i have to go back to college for two more weeks, but thats only a formality so ill probably wag it XD)

good luck with that. Double dosage of science...that sucks (I mean...not unless if you enjoy it ).

I have a 20 something page of research to type up, plus a few readings to study for for tonight's Final....so I have about a few more hours to go.

there is a minimum wage in america but it varies from state to state. in ohio, the minimum wage is $7. however, in the restaurant industry, waiters and bussers do not get paid the minimum wage since they acquire most of their salaries from tips. my friend who works as a waiter can get as much as $100 a night to the >$200. it pretty much depends on the customers and how many people you serve but it isn't bad money per night imo.

Yep, the tips act as the main wage, rather than the restaurant paying. What they DO pay is mostly for taxes that get taken out on the tips. So, instead of having to turn some of the tips over for taxes, the waiter's wage basically gets taken back.

Though, I believe that if in the pay period you don't make enough money to have been paid the equivalent of minimum wage, the restaurant is supposed to compensate. I think.

I make only $8.65/ hr...and that's only after two years!

well it aint often i get tip, one waiter he usually gives me a third of the tip if its just been us two in the restaurant, the other ones are cheap, they dun gimme anything, even though they treat me as their personal chef n wants me to make em special dishes when its time for them to eat..

cause ya dun split the tips with him, or is it that ya dont bring him beer? the waiter the gives me tip usually bring me beer, or booze but the booze-bringin is rare, i ahve to cook him real nice food if i want booze so i usually stick with the ordinary stuff n get beer
