yeah that is true but the people from new orleans went loose after the storm. One of my dawgs just came down here from no and he said it got so bad in texas they were trying to send them to other states. It was a scerw up on the governments part too. The relief effort sucked. They cant act like they didnt know what would happen cuz they did. God forbid anything happen like that where i am cuz im in florida and we get hurricanes all the time except for this year

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

just dont call me shurly *doubts anyone will get the really old referance*
surely you can fly this plane? :omg

I call my sister Shirley, since she's still under 21 :XD

And my area is really getting hit by a drought hard right now. There's starting to be bans on water use in a lot of places here - including car-washing and such. The lake I live next to - it's REALLY low level right now. We need rain. Badly.
I remember that happening a lot when I lived in Colorado :s the crazy thing was despite all the water restrictions they had going, you still couldn't drive anywhere without passing some enormous, beautiful, green golf course :blink

Also, if you all see CoyoteJack around this board now, that is my husband. :clap I've corrupted him enough to join this board. :kukuku
that's so exciting!! :whoo make sure he stops by here :amuse or is he afraid of us... :XD

Yeah, mine is on wiki as well. As well as our prowess for winning football state championships :whee

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maryville_High_School_(Tennessee)

It's weird, though. The current principal was my Drivers Education teacher when I was in HS. He's certainly gone far since I graduated.
wow! from drivers ed to princple that's a major promotion! :XD
Yea I used to not like it that much, but now it is one of my main sources for reserach papers.
hey! i use wiki too for research papers but my teachers don't really like it if i use wiki they want me to do some actual research... though it's the same for me... wiki or google. and i keep on hearing that wiki's not relaiable... *points at rabb for this one! :XD*

ya know, they really call me bunny cus i reproduce like one XD j/k

im a judge too... hugs his knees and traces a circle indirt with a bunch of black semi-wavery lines on the back of his head* no one ever listens to me...
mmm... is this MH idol really a serious thing or not. cuz just likePY i can't tell anymore... :(

oh it's already featured. Guessed I've missed the thread somehow... :p Now I am feeling stupid for getting hyped up about something that everyone already knows... :XD :paperbag
:comfort don't worry i didn't even know it too!

And my area is really getting hit by a drought hard right now. There's starting to be bans on water use in a lot of places here - including car-washing and such. The lake I live next to - it's REALLY low level right now. We need rain. Badly.
uggh! banned from water! i don't think i'll be able to handle that since i take like 40min long showers everyday... :XD :darn where do you live anyway?
@ GK - I hope you get some rain soon!

OMG... I ended up working 13 hours yesterday. (8am-5pm and 7:30pm-11:30pm) I am so tired. However, I did find out that if I was willing to relocate to Japan with McDonalds as an area manager at some point, that option is totally open to me. O_O HR told me this and I was like, HECK YEAH!!!! :clap2 Also, I get 90% tuition reimbursement to go back to college as I had planned as a Japanese major. WOOT! <--- sorry, this made me all happy!

Also, if you all see CoyoteJack around this board now, that is my husband. :clap I've corrupted him enough to join this board. :kukuku
Your going to Japan?! :hug!!! luckyy! that's so cool!

It all casue of the global warming problem. The weather is gonna be wack for a long long long long time.

Global warming is the reason for all the extreme weather we've been having isn't it?
i think so cuz last year's winter in VT was all messed up. we didn't get any snow til January but after that it was snowstorm after snowstorm... brr! :darn

Global warming is occurring, but it's a natural process. The earth cools down, warms up, cools down. A lot of it depends on Thermohaline Circulation in the oceans (Cold, dense water traveling from Greenland to the Pacific, turning warm and less dense then traveling back to Greenland where the cycle restarts). Also, scientists believe that the sun has cycles as well, where more sunspots = less heat, and at the moment there's few sunspots. Therefore, more heat + more greenhouse gases trapping heat = rising temperatures.
does that mean ice age is coming!!? ::tem

do you major in science LH? :blink

Rabb: Hell if I know why they're trying to save New Orleans. Sure it's people's homes, it's historical, etc, I understand that. But for God's sake, it's BELOW sea level. DUH, it's going to flood. Jesus, are they stupid? Don't fucking complain about it when you KNOW the high possibility of it flooding!

*ends rant >.>*
haha that's true when i first heard about New Orleans flooding that was the first time i heard about the place too! and my first thought was... why would they build a city that's below sea level... :blink

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

*points at nothing* Global Warming is serious business! I try as much as I can to cut down on my emissions and waste. I also know a lot of tips to lower them, and there's one big one: Telling your mayor or whoever to switch the traffic lights to LCD lights. They use 80% less energy, tell him/her, and it would save your city MILLIONS on electric bills.

i know how the whole world could stop global warming
i drive a deisel car AND WHAT MOST PPL DONT KNOW IS THAT DEISEL ENGINES WERE INITIALLY BUILT TO RUN ON PEANUT OIL NOT DIESEL.

i use vegetable oil to fill up my car rapesead and sunflower oil are good as well(not corn oil too thick) and ive ever had a problem . it emits NOOOOO co2 absolutly non and it gives off a fresh fried scent instead of intoxicating fumes its 100% renewable as well. its not just me afew ppl have wised up and are doing this around the world. every gov, mechanic and car production company knows this is true yet they do nothing.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE i am 100% serious if you dont believe me feel free to goole it ....write something like vegetable oil fuel or something like that (prefebly peanut oil because it runs diesel engines the best better than diesel itself).

the govenment here in the uk does not want to endorse this behaviour because diesel costs like the equivalent of $2 a litre and veg oil costs the equivalent of 35-50 cents a litre depending where u go

diesel costs a lot because of the tax thats on it. if ppl start using veg oil gov looses money
so ask urself what does the gov value more ......money or the enviroment?
i'll let u figureit out.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE i repeat THIS IS NOT A JOKE pls spread the word please

oh yeh i forgot diesel is what is used in industrial sized generators to produce electricity for cities and towns (other methods are dams, burning fossil fuels, nuclear blah blah blah) but generators are just as good. u know what this means dont u ...they could be using veg oils to produce elec instead...... take a deep breath........ these are the things their never gonna advertise to u on telly.believe me

i dont know anything about jet fuels for planes. i guess that will have to stay the same.

nope, i've ranted enough for the day.it is evil, and it does suck. thats all your getting. *goes to screw up a random page just for spite*

idk. i mean, ill do it if someone else does it first. just so they ain't on the branch by themselves.

does that mean ice age is coming!!? ::tem
yes. in a nutshell, the melting icecaps and runoff from rivers have dumped too much freshwater in the ocean, disrupting the balance. you ever see the movie "the day after tomorrow"? take out the wild storms, killer freezer hurricanes, and slow it down a few years, and it is more or less true. the first are to shut down looks to be the northern Atlantic current, meaning it will be Europe that will freeze over first. withing the next few yeas the rest of the world will be the same. the northern most areas will freeze to death, the rest of the population of the world will starve to death as the major breadbaskets of the world, the US northern Midwest, Poland, etc., become frozen and inert.

haha that's true when i first heard about New Orleans flooding that was the first time i heard about the place too! and my first thought was... why would they build a city that's below sea level... :blink
well, it's better than Holland. how much of that country is under the sea level?

yeah that is true but the people from new Orleans went loose after the storm. ...and now some of them are back in the new Orleans area, where crime is rampant outside the immediate city area, rape and murder at an all time high, certainly higher than anywhere else in our country, with people refusing to go out at all after nightfall.

the way i see it, New Orleans situation is a like a serious cancer, and it is being treated once every two months with light radiation, when it has grown to the point that it either needs full radiation treatment (full martial law) or operate and remove the cancer (door to door evacuations, and surrendering the city to the sea). the problem is that the damn government doesn't care about the refugees no matter where they are.

surely you can fly this plane? :omg
of coarse. and don't call me Shirley.
wow you drag your husband? :blink That's good gigi :XD keep going to drag another your family ;)
this is America! it is un-American to not drag your family around!

on a lighter note, i was playing world of warcraft (my friends made me, dont worry im not that much of a geek... yet...) and they have their own in-game version of october fest called beer fest. one of the other players found a way to get on top of a giant keg... so a bunch of us got on top of it, and started dancing on top without shirts (the women, of coarse, can not be naked) will drinking and, if your level is low enough... like mine... you can puke a nice little arc. get a good six feet distance too. mustve sucked for those dancing below us.

Well, I'm an exercise science major, not really any environmental science stuff, but I do like science in general, so I tend t keep up with it XD

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

Well they're good they give more power than oil, but there arent enough facilities to make this type of fuel source wide spead right now. We would need to spend tons of money on making power plants to be able to make hydrogen. When Hydrogen releases all that energy it is not the easiest thing in the world to control

Basic Facts About Getting Hydrogen That Can Casue Some Problems:Hydrogen does not occur free in nature in useful quantities. It has to be made, usually by splitting water H2O to get the hydrogen. This requires all the energy you are going to get from burning the hydrogen and a bit more on account of inefficiencies. Therefore, hydrogen is an energy transfer medium rather than a primary source of energy. Hydrogen is obtained by splitting water (H2O) into hydrogen and oxygen. The energy to split the water should be nuclear or solar. Nuclear is cheaper.

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

I think the next gen energy supply would be solar energy. Yes it is expensive now but maybe 10 or 20 years from now, everyone will be using solar energy. Plus solar energy is free.

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

Well it isnt as expensive as it used to be becasue since the modern age of solar power arrived in 1954 when researchers at Bell Laboratories developed a solar cell capable of effectively converting light into electricity. This breakthrough marked a fundamental change in how power is generated. Since then solar cells efficiencies have improved from 6% to over 40% and prices have fallen from $300 per watt to less than $3 per watt.

So we can just imagine how much they would be in 20 years and also imagine how much output they can produce!

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

the problem with solar, however, is that it cannot over come clouds. something like 50 years ago, a cindercode valcanoe blew it's top, and the world was covered in ash clouds for the next year (which also lead to a long winter, and snow in july, little in the way of crops and what not, lots of starvation, but thats besides the point im trying to makie). if we were completly powered by solar power, that would be a complete year with no electricity.

althought if scientists can make that thing go off again prematuraly, the resulting temperture drop might hold back global warming for a few years.

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

Well one of the ideas that scientists have had that i saw on the Discovery channel was that we make the solar power plants so that there are giant towers that go above the clouds, in the atmosphere, but that of course would not be good since they would get in the way. And also we would need to use so much metal building it and having to maintain it.

It all comes down to that humans messed up their own world, and that now we have deal with it, but we dont want to deal with the results we made ourselves. This is karma, for all the advances we have made we need to feel some kind of consequence.

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

no, i think the future of power is nuclear fission. we have mantained the reaction, we just, for the moment, have nothing that can hold allthe power that it creates. and once we get that down, it is only a matter of time before we get antimatter reacters.

as for solar, the onlyway i see it as being viable is if it is all done with satalites. then beam the energy back here or something. we cant, for obvuis reasons, have huge teather connections for hundreds of solar plant satalites.

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

Yea so there is no way to control that power, well then how can you say nuclear fission be the future...Unitl someone can actuallty find a way to contorl the power it create its only an idea...nothing concrete.

Re: The Hang Out Thread v. 7

we can control the power :blink. we just have no way of buffering and storing it. thats a big difference. if we couldnt control it, there would be a huge explosion and meltdown. as it is, we can maintain the reaction, shut it down, restart it, what have you, we just cant use the power as of yet. and im not sure if its cold or hot fission they used

Someone stole my backpack at school! I like owe the school $70 worth of books or more. not to mention I have a $140 calculator in there too AND my house keys!!! I can't believe i'm so stupid though! i left my backpack in another pile of backpacks cuz we had a pep rally. when i came back it was gone! ughh.... this is probably the one of the worst days of my life. I just hope i get my back pack back on Monday. *sighs* I have to make up homework now too! :scry

good thing it's manga day too! i least i'll have something to keep my mind of this... :crying

Well there you go just becasue u can start and turn off a computer doesnt mean that you can control it or know how to use it. It's the same thing...anyway what I meant by couldnt control it was that it can not be put to a practicle use... ;)

Aww that sucks.... do you need a hug? *hugs* (no people I am not hitting on her!, I'm just being nice!). Wow only $70 worth of books? When I was in high school each book was $80! and i had 6 books...I never lost a single one!

I thought I lost my backpack once, but my friends just took it and hid it, soon after they all died of round-house kick related deaths..

Woot Raws are out. We can always count on manga to brighten any day... :D
