hmmm... its the america haters i'm more worried about. bush haters are usually more... civilized *watches the guy throw a shoe at bush* ....but i have been wrong before.... anyways, the ones who hate bush alone are more likely to lob shoes, rotton tomatoes, etc. the ones who hate america... well y'all know about the USS Cole, right? then there is the possibility of war with like china or something, in which case, all carriers are targets.

anyways, it'll be a while before there is an USS Obama. it takes years to make a carrier, and not all presidents get one. also, i gound out i might not get a real choice; the time they are manning up the Bush coincides with my classes graduation from Prototype (last phase of training), so a huge part of my class will be going there.

that reminds me, you guys have any suggestions as for where i should try and get stationed? my three ideas are San Diego - its beautiful there 24/7/365, but the cost of living is really high. then there is Japan... 'nuf said... third is the George Bush. if i go on her, i'll be touring europe instead. she's a brand new class of carrier; new electromagnetic launching system is replacing the steam catapults, she is built so we can quickly launch and or recover 4 jets at a time instead of 2, and it takes much less time to get the next set of jets ready.

and i have one friend in each of these places >.<

I think being stationed in japan is more interesting, since you'll get to eat sushi everyday, and it's a whole new life experience for you. You should try more things when you're young and have no commitment in life

I think being stationed in japan is more interesting, since you'll get to eat sushi everyday, and it's a whole new life experience for you. You should try more things when you're young and have no commitment in life

the thing is, it is a commitment... honor, courage, commitment, and all that. im rather commited to the navy, and any posting i get will be at least two years. but i would like to go to japan. and i just found out another of my friends is trying to get on the GW, too.

Carrier. I never had to move around. My dad was stationed in Norfolk right before I was born, and stayed there until he retired in '01. He was an ETMC, I think? Can't remember all those damned acronyms >.>;

etmc on a nuclear carrier? was he an a-ganger, or a nuke? did he stay on the big stick, or did he go back in forth on various ships stationed there?

uhh, sorry, since it takes us so long to get to fleet, and (my class) only being like 1/3 of the way threw school, nukes tend to love hearing the career paths of other sailors

It's not exactly the school topic(which would be close to gokusen) I'm looking for, but the character similarity. I loved Onizukas easy going life style, his sense of humor and stuff like that. Watching him, I wanted to change my life, just a little bit, so If you could I'd really like to hear your recommendations, or at least point me to the specific board where I can put up my request.

Technically, I think we're still in the majority. By that I mean the minorities combined would be more than the white population, but there are still more whites than any other single minority group, unless of course I missed some findings from a new census.

Don't worry though, being male is the new minority. So you've got that going for you .

Hmmmm.....never watched/read GTO. Been meaning to, though. >.<

I have no idea if this is similar at all, but if you're looking for humorous manga/anime, I say you can't go wrong with Gintama. And go for the anime first (the first episode is not my favorite, so give it a few eps before you decide if you like it or not). The seiyuus are really fantastic!

If you want a recommendation from someone that might actually know more about GTO, try the Otaku Theater. There are a few various recommendation threads there already that might give you some ideas if you don't want to start your own.

Aargh! I don't know what I'm doing yet. I'm currently not feeling so well.....caught a bug from my nephew when I was home for Christmas. I hope I feel better by Wednesday!
