ugh. this place sucks x.x i've got like 12 hours worth of homework this weekend so far... and thats just comp homework. theyve yet to give us the regular homework.

so check this out; we're in RP, and going over Chernobyl, what went wrong, how we can learn from it, etc. so yeah, these guys had all kinds of conditions they werent meeting to do this test, but they decided to do it anyway. theres a problem, and the core power jumps, making the core hotter. they scram the control rods to prevent fission (shut down the core in a hurry) but the core is already so hot, the tracts that keep the control rods on course melted, and the core failed to scram. the control rod did, however, displace water (which the russians use to prevent fission, so by displacing water, the neutrons were no longer being stopped), causing power of the core to skyrocket (estimated 11000% rated core power). the core undergoes "violent deconstruction" (the shit blew up) killing something like 34 operators instantly, and the rest is history. (none of this is classified (by us) so i can tell you all this)

at this last part, the kid sitting next to me leans over and whispers "In Soviet Russia, reactor fix you" i rofl'd. my instructor thought we were insane XD
