Well, I was thinking along the lines that Zan is immovable, like the mountain, so its stationary, therefore, being a position kinda makes sense. If its net defence, he can block out most paths and with his Ka and rin, he can use a strong tennis or a supple one.

I said I think Zan is simply a movement like the teleportation part of Rai. It's possible Zan actually IS the teleport part of Rai, and Rai is the actual swing part. Though the last part is just a theory.

Yeah, but I think Zan is much less than the teleport of Rai so Kirihara and Atobe were able to beat it. That would also explain why Sanada didn't use Zan anymore, and went to "Rai" which would be an upgraded version of Zan to me.

It's quite possible that its a some type of "swift" movement...terribly deceptive thought if it is a "swift" movement. Since he says immovable like a mountain...

I frankly have no idea...until Konomi shows it. I'll says its magical super shiny pixie dust that Sanada sprinkles all over the court to confuse his opponents into hitting the ball directly to him.

...and didn't completely break it but he was pushing Sanada and he might have won till Sanada invoked fire. At least to me, it seemed like Kirihara had a the advantage till fire of course.

In the other part of the OVA, normal Ryoma returns a Gin's Final Hadoukyyu with the right hand, so I won´t give too credit to it

According to the manga, it says that Kirihara "lost to Ka." Going by the OVA, the context seems to be that Kirihara was able to defeat all of Sanada's other techniques. So this must also mean Atobe was able to defeat everything except Zan, and Renji was able to handle everything except Rin.

Though, that is going by what the OVA has told us about Kirihara. The context could also be Sanada didn't need to use anything BUT that 1 technique, but the earlier seems more likely.

Yeah when he went red-eyed, but that doesn't make sense because 1st time Rikki saw red-eye Kirihara was when fought Tachibana during the Kantou tournament.
