There's something in SnK that bothers me to no end. Why the hell is the king's name never given? He is just an unnamed guy with a taste for young boys (implied by Shardis), is recently trying to make the Military Police a competent branch of the military (probably because
Wall Rose was "breached" and he is not feeling that safe anymore
) and is the only one among the upper class society that allowed the Scouting Legion to exist before the fall of Wall Maria. Now that I think of it, how come we don't know the names of any aristocrat/noble, besides Christa?

Quite sure there isn't even a King but something in the likes of "Takeda".

A being who doesn't exist except in name, the actual decisions and ruling being by a group of people who created the illusion of a King existing.

I'm not sure, but I'm sure there's a reason for not revealing too much about the important people of the society within the Walls. I think it's because they know at least some truths about Titans and the story's world. Perhaps some of them are even Titans themselves, and the real enemy.

I think that someone would've figured that out by now, but since the districts are somewhat isolated from each-other it could be. Shardis, however, when Marco tells him he wants to join the Military Police, because it is an honor to serve the King, said that he doubted that he (Marco) would be of the King's taste. Whatever Shardis meant (has to do with the King's sexual orientation, no doubt) he refered to the King as a single person.

On the other hand, if what you said is correct, it could be that the nobles spread those rumors. In the real world, some nobles (talking about pre-industrial era and earlier here) would do some pretty fucked up things from time to time.

They have something to do with the real enemy, but I doubt they are the real enemy.

I highly doubt the king being a pedophile is something Shardis would talk about even if that were true. SnK isn't the kind of series in which people would take the occurrence of child abuse lightly. I think what Shardis said was simply his way of sugarcoating that more corruptible people (like Nile Dawk) are the type that the king wants.

It could be, but that still doesn't explain why the King's name is never mentioned.

Probably because there is going to be some sort of huge plot twist later on.

It actually never occurred to me. This could be one of the reasons why the king sounds almost non existent.

But seeing the 2nd ending, it depicts that 2 of the armies were up against each other, someone got a triumph over the other and is now ruling the humanity. But the possibility that the King in fact refers to the wallists is to be considered.
