It's that time guys!

It has finally arrived.

Yesterday evening on 19:54 PM our son, Conan, was brought to this world.
Weighing at about 3375 grams and 49 centimeters (Americans, I can't be arsed, convert it yourself.)

I'll save the glamorous shots for .. well... nobody. Here's a first look.

Son got his Totoro today (his birthday). Overjoyed. Of course, going by kid logic, Totoro needed to watch Totoro on the TV, and have everything explained to him while watching: "Look, cat bus! Look biiig~ To-to-to!" *Hugs plushie* "That my To-to-to! To-to-to biiiig~ mouth! No my To-to-to not yawn?" Etc. (all this in Swedish obviously)

I recently returned from one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. This year I was given the (expensive) opportunity to walk the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea, an important location for Australian War History and an amazing cultural experience. I travelled with many friends old and new with the fantastic No Roads Expedition Group over 9 days in the jungles and mountains.

Arrival in Port Moresby:

• Our flight over was uneventful enough, but I quickly found out upon our arrival in Moresby that my money was already being well spent on accommodation

Day 1: Kokoda to Hoi

• After a quick flight of 25 mins over the terrain that would take us 9 days to walk, we arrived in Popondetta on the north coast of PNG and had a 3 hour drive in the back of a truck ahead of us to arrive at the village of Kokoda at the beginning of the track.

Day 2: Hoi to Alola

• Day 2 of trekking was hard work as this was where we really started to climb. First up was "Heartbreak Hill" that bridged Hoi and the village of Deniki at the top of the Kokoda Valley. These are some of my favourite photos. I also don't have any pictures of Alola itself but I do have some of New Isuvara and the Isuvara Memorial, a site of a large battle during the WWII Kokoda Campaign.

Day 3: Alola to Templeton's Crossing 1

• For me, and a good few others, this was the hardest day of trekking. 8 solid hours with a large distance to cover and many backbreaking climbs. From Alola we descended into the steep canyon below and climbed the next range down into Euroa Creek, the site of a Japanese Mountain Gun. From there we climbed and descended many times into Templeton's Crossing 2 for lunch. Templeton's #1 had a nice creek to bathe in and I got a little excited, jumping in, towel in hand :/ That earned me the nickname "Aqua man" from my peers.

Day 4: Templeton's #1 to Kagi

• The climb out of Templeton's was a cruel one for such an early start. We climbed Mount Bellamy, the highest point on the track at 2200m, and from there descended into 1900 for Morning Tea. A quick up and down saw us at the edge of Kagi Valley, home to several villages that we could see and far more open than the thick Jungle canopy we had gotten used to. Time for Sunscreen Let me tell you, it was pretty much all downhill from there bar a small rise to the plateau that Kagi was situated on.

Rest Day: The Sabbath

• No Roads observes the religious importance of Saturdays to the locals and so abide by their customs. Saturday is the day of the Sabbath and a day of rest, therefore we did not walk that day and instead spent it in Kagi. We attended a church service and had a great time with the local kids that night.

Day 5: Kagi to Menari

• We set off early Sunday morning to scale the "Kagi Wall", and extremely steep up and down to get of the Kagi Plateau. From there we ascended to Efogi #2 and down into Efogi #1, the second largest village on the trail. I don't have many photos of this point but from Efogi #1 we scaled Mission Ridge to arrive at Brigade Hill, another site of a major battle during the Campaign. After a service and lunch at the hill it was all downhill into Menari, the largest village and a nice swim

Day 6: Menari to Ofi Creek

• Day 6 was intended to be a shorter day travelling from Menari to Nauro, but after Day 5's amazing pace we pushed on over the range into Ofi Creek. I was too focused on walking to take many photos that day. I'll try to scab some pics of the others and update this.

Day 7: Ofi Creek to Goodwater

• The rise from Ofi Creek to the top of the Ioribaiwa ridge was shorter than I expected but trying. The descent into Ioribaiwa Village was... steep. There we took a break and had a history talk. This was as far as the Japanese got during the Kokoda Campagin. We could see into the Imita Valley below and the river that we would cross 18 times ahead. Imita Ridge itself was very imposing and rightly so. A lot of us really had to push hard to beat this potentially soul crushing mountain climb It also rained on this day, making the descent from Imita to Goodwater very eventful with some amazing saves on my behalf and some fantastic fails on that of the others

Day 8: Goodwater to Ower's Corner

• Our final day on the track, day 8 was very short thanks to us extending day 6 and 7 by a large margin. A quick climb to Ower's saw us at the end of the track and greeted by a fry up on the Barbecue. On the drive back to Moresby and the Hotel we visited the Bomana War Cemetery.
