I watched “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” a few days ago and it was such an excellent movie.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer is a 2006 German thriller film directed by Tom Tykwer and written by Andrew Birkin, Bernd Eichinger and Tykwer. It is based on the 1985 novel Perfume by Patrick Süskind. Set in 18th century France, the film tells the story of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille (Ben Whishaw), an olfactory genius, and his homicidal quest for the perfect scent. The film also stars Dustin Hoffman, Alan Rickman and Rachel Hurd-Wood; John Hurt provides narration.

The acting and the story both are superb and they do a great job immersing the viewer into that world and into Grenouille’s mind as well. I enjoyed the movie so much that I’ve started to read the actual book. It seems some things were altered in the movie, I just hope they didn’t change many things to the point of making me change my mind about the movie after I finish reading the book.

Glad you've seen it destiny , My sister recommeded it to me a few years ago and I loved it. Grenouille is such a fascinating character, it's scary to see the lengths he goes to create the greatest perfume.

Grenouille is fascinating indeed, there are so many levels of complexity to his character. It was very interesting to analyze his personality and his actions from a psychological point of view. And I know he was merciless and what he did was atrocious, and maybe it was the way he was portrayed during the last part of the movie (because in the book is different) but I felt empathic towards him towards the end of the movie. He was a very lonely and sad person and various were the factors that influenced his life and that turned him into the man he was.

ach, a movie thread too... I've seen over 800 movies...

(I could/would have seen even more, but I am quite good with seleting movies that I am interested in or at least they're worth a shot to see if I'm really bored and there's nothing else out, hehe. Or maybe I should say, in spike of being such a "picky" movie go'er/watcher, I've seen over 800 movies, hehe)

With each week of movies, I've been getting more and more disappointed, as all of them have been flops/awful to me... sighs. I guess anime is spoiling me, as American movie media's story quality is VERY LACKING... sighs...

every since that writer's guild strike... some years back now... is when movie quality hit the fan... went down the toilet... went to gutter trash...

His last movie Antichrist was very intense, I wouldn't recommend it unless of course you aren't squeamish...

Yeah its an art film. The movie premise is simple, a couple go into the wood ( a cabin) to help recuperate after recently losing their child.

The movie begins with an unstimulated sex scene, as in real sex...penis into vagina, it isn't long but the idea that its real catches people off guard. There a scene involving a large piece of metal and male testicles and also a scene with a rusted scissors and a female clitoris...*shudders*

Take a watch if you want, but hey you were warned though

I watched "Thor" today Good movie. It had a very epic feel to it and the graphics/special effects were really, really good. The ending was *slightly* wanting though, especially if you're the sort who wants an all-round happy ending. It didn't seem clear whether the whole story was going to continue in "The Avengers" (the one with Captain America!) or if that one would have a totally different story and just reuse the same characters from "Thor". Either way, I am looking forward to "The Avengers"

Also, while Chris Hemsworth (Thor) was the star of the show, hunky, good-looking and all, he was pretty typical. On the other hand I thought Tom Hiddleston (Loki) stole the show at many parts. His character was ambiguous throughout, and I thought the way Hiddleston portrayed the character lent a lot of depth to him and made him more than just your typical villain. Well-played, and his acting is one of the things I am most looking forward to in "The Avengers" (especially after the little short preview of it we got to see after the credits )!

Arrrrgh crap!!! I saw it a few days ago and I left as soon as the credits started rolling
I have to agree Tom Hiddleston protrayal of Loki was great, brought a lot of depth to the character.

I loved the cgi and design for Asgaard, didn't really like the rainbow bridge though but that's a minor detail to me. Loved the comedic scenes with Thor when he gets to earth.

Seriously, the movie was really epic. I could have watched it as a pure comedy if there was no action. Thor in the human realm was just hilarious at the beginning. Of course the action that were was really well done, the best of all the scenes was easily the ass-kicking in Jotunheimen (this is what it really looks like, and yes I've been there) with Thor's super awesome earthquake smash attack. Effects were sexy, Natalie was sexy, Chris was awesome, Tom was great, Anthony was back in business and it was just all good. Excellent movie.

Did I mention that the old Norse mythology obviously made this a +10 points in my book to begin with? Also, a school nearby here is named Asgaard.

Just watched thor too, really great movie and its rare to see such a nice adaption(if it is an adaption at all).
He's a pretty epic character, but my favourite is still spidey, maybe one day he'll climb up to my number one place
Now I get why my friend looked forward to it so much..
Chris Hemsworth suits the role of thor for me, the first time I saw him(or the only time) was on this thriller film, and I thought he was pretty good and now as thor he's awesome
It was a funny and asskicking movie, one I enjoyed very much.
I didn't expect to enjoy it that much tho.
Anyway, my most anticipated film is coming soon!
Pirates of the Caribbean: on stranger tides!
I'm going to watch it on my birthday, just to show how awesome it is.

what I learned from Thor:

Girls are truly bad drivers! seriously, running over the same guy, and actually he's a god not a guy, like what 4-5 times? GEEEZ!

(I'm of course J/K about girls being bad drivers! my car doesn't need more dents and scrapes in it from angered girls... hehe. J/K again)

this is jsut my own personal opinion of the movie:

I however thought Thor was crap, I was highly let down/disappointed by it, as I am part Swedish and love Norse Mythology (what fantasy/RPG lover doesn't?)

the movie was just awful, at best maybe it's mercy-decent as comedy, but that's it.

no/crap story, no/crap plot, no/crap character development, and etc of more crap.

Thor - another good comic book adaptation from big M. And the whole universe to try to make into film industry with the same actors <all most of them, like Hulk thingy is always bad ;p> = epicness. The Avengers should be epic for Marvel fans, whether comic book or film fans xD

I just saw Thor today. Wasn't good. Decent entertainment and Asgard looked amazing, but that's pretty much it. While the visuals were mostly pretty good, the figths didn't really buy me, the script was weak and the overall all story pretty lame. Despite one certain one, I didn't really care about the characters. And I do also like norse mythology (duh, who doesn't?)

The film had it's good parts too. As said, I also liked the guy who played Loki. I hope the rumors are true and he return to Avengers (with Skrulls!). And the comedy bits were great. The ancient god behaving like he is used to in a modern setting. Reminds me of an old finnish comic strip series, which was pretty much the same idea. Väinämöinen suddenly pops in the modern Finland. I liked Thor more when he was bit of an arrogant jerk than the nice guy in the end. And his character developement to that didn't feel as natural and real as Tony Stark in Ironman films, imho.

Bit of bittersweet tragedy in the end, and I actually liked that too. Left me the feeling, that the story will continue in Avenegers. They'll find one of those hidden passage ways to Asgard Loki mentioned to Heimfall or something. Maybe after Loki uses one of them to his invasion. Yeah, while I didn't really like the film as whole, I'm pretty exited about The Avengers! Hope Captain America will be bit better, wonder how they make him work, since the character is pretty much silly patriotic creation, who first beat up nazis and during the Cold War those bloody communists... But he is a soldier, so that might bring up nice new kinda action to the Marvel films. Ironman is mecha, Thor other wordly magic, Captain a soldier, and Hulk just smash. Damn, Avengers could potentially be so awesome.

I kinda liked Thor but I can perfectly understand people who don't liked this movie. I always love it when comic adaptations rather focuson the story and the happenings than on the fights. The fights were appealing and they weren't overdone like they did in some other awful adaptations. It was pretty solid overall. I was kinda surprised that Anthony Hopkins was playing in this movie. I do agree that I didn't came out of the cinema with the WOW feeling that was given by other reviews hence why some people might be more disappointed. Well, let's say a 7/10

Yes!!! Koen!! finally someone who is as excited about Tintin as I am. A lot of my friends didn't seem to care!!!

Tintin is awesome, I've loved it growing up and I'm sure Spielberg, Jackson and Moffat will surely deliver a spectacle; I can't wait

@goldb: of course, TinTin is one of those comics which we grew up with It is awesome and even nowadays its stories are still great (knowing how old the comics are). Those friends will miss something for sure and their taste .... you know

Yep, the trailer looks good. I can't wait for a longer version because it will be even more appealing.

I hope they'll animate The Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun (as a child those were my favourite ones)
