The new Shrek movie was ok... It failed to wow me, but it was entertaining none the less.

How would you rant the 4th installment with previous 3? <like, in what order of being the best to the worse>
And: if its better than the 3rd one? <I don't know how you feel about nr3, but to me was the worse movie from the three>
Just curious, still don't know if I'm going into cinema, because the 3rd one dissapointed me so much.

just watched Prince of Persia and...what's this? A good movie based on a video game?? WHAT ON EARTH

I assume you have played the game and that the story disturbs you a lot... I have never played the game and I consider Prince of Persia as a mediocre, entertaining movie but it isn't the must-see-it-in-cinema either

Recently watched:

The Wolfman
Solomon Kane
Ninja Assassin

Wolfman was a meh movie at best. So predictable and nothing but senseless gore. Solomon Kane was ok, may be because I like magic, fantasy blah blah. Ninja Assassin was violent but a good movie. The opening will make you think otherwise, but as the movie progresses it gets better.

Really now? Unless this is clumsy sarcasm, you just set me up with impossibly high expectations right there... I'm not the kind of elitist jerk who'll jeer at anything less than amazing but if it turns out to be rated uwe boll, I'm gonna be giving my fond memories of the franchise a viking funeral.

So I'm in this movie streak. On Tuesday I watched Book of Eli. And yesterday I watched The Road, now I'm kind of craving for another good movie. Anyone have any fresh suggestions? It doesn't have to be recent even if it's preferable, as long as it's "fairly new".

Btw I really enjoyed Book of Eli and The Road despite them being a little weird and lacking in their respective cases. Gonna see Iron Man 2 in a few days, I know I know I'm late, but I haven't had the time because of exams so I've been looking forward to it for a long time.

I watched Book of Eli couple of days back. Sadly, I cannot share your optimism about the movie. I found it lacking. But its me *shrugs*.

I mainly enjoyed it because of the fact that Denzel kicks some serious ass with a sword and bow, while even being blind. I guess it would be more accurate to describe it as an entertaining watch, the movie itself wasn't that "good" if you know what I mean.

Well, I watched Solomon Kane (cited by thorn)...

The movie was entertaining. It never bored imo. Not a complex story and not too many clichés. The actors weren't famous to me either but they played their role quite good.

re:Book of Eli- I say they could have done more with it. It was good but there was something missing. By the end of the movie, you don't get that feeling of accomplishment you normally associate to movies that involve epic quests; you're left wanting more... but due to certain circumstances, you won't have more (continuing with Mila Kunis is a big no-no... She's hot and everything, but that's about it)...

re:Something new- Sadly we don't have anything new for the time being, but I'd suggest revisiting great old movies; particularly ones ahead of their time like Bladerunner or Clockwork Orange. You might also be able to find peace with time honored classics like the original Star Wars trilogy (preferably the version where Christiansen hasn't been super imposed), the Monty Python series, King Kong, Godfather I and II, Citizen Kane, and the original Indiana Jones trilogy.

If anyone here has a Japanese calligraphy fetish and an interest in seeing Ewan McGregor full frontal then run out and watch the Pillow Book!! Seriously though, it's a good movie. Twisted. I saw it a while ago, but just now remembered it. *shrug*

Saw Iron Man II. I liked it, but not nearly as much as the first one.

Also saw nightmare on Elm Street. It wasn't too bad. I sort of liked how they made Freddy a pedophile. And looking back on my memories of those movies he really did come off as a pedophile without ever totally insinuating it. You know, all the sexual jokes. The redo of the "I'm your boyfriend now" line was a win I think.

I wonder, do they have plans to remake more? I hope they wouldn't do part 2 though. That one sucked. But I also wouldn't want to see them turn out like the new Halloween 2.

I just saw Prince of Persia today and... it was actually good. 8.5/10 by my book. I just hope they don't ruin it with a sequel because it's perfect the way it is.

More and more every day, I am disillusioned by the amount of childishness adult critics retain while I am baffled by the amount of candor they discard.
If there's anything this movie showed me is how much more enjoyment I could get out of my cinephilia if I were to stop and question the authority of this wall of obsessively elitist institution of opinionated critics that seems to be out there to spread and defend some stereotype that all members of the academies must imperatively be a fun-hating little-man syndrome who thinks too highly of himself to be amused by entertainment while stuck in an infinite loop of his mid-life existential phase. I swear it's like they do this solely to spite all creative work that was written by the younger generation. BAH! Now I need to go brush my teeth after even cursing them.

Prince of persia was possibly the most fun movie with such horribly bad reviews that I can remember. If anyone couldn't enjoy it at least for what it is, a fun movie, I'm gonna have to wager it's really due to the ironic conundrum of an incredibly big head stuck inside an incredibly tight ass.

IMO Prince of Persia's proven that movies based on video games aren't always bad. They took distinct aspects of the game and applied it to the direction and cinematography of the film. A film adaptation need not be 100% like the game, because some aspects of the gaming world just translates poorly into film (yes, Uwe Boll. we're talking about you). This could possibly mean the end to shit game to movie adaptations, and kick off better ones in the future.

On the topic of game to movie adaptations. Apparently Sam Raimi's been drafted to direct the WoW movie... I'm corssing my fingers hard here!

I really can't wait for that one!!! it's gonna be huge. Hulk has been confirmed to appear in it too. But before that, we that Thor, which I'm hoping will be good too.

The Avengers sure has a mighty cast. But 2012 is too far away . Next Superman movie is scheduled in 2012 as well.

Still, the best thing is: Christopher Nolan is somewhat connected to the next Superman movie project, and that makes me happy <and his bro is doing a script if I recall correctly> Even if Nolan will be just a producer, I think that in his "hand" <his protection > the movie can be very well done <I know, I know, "realism" and that stuff, but Nolan - to me - reflects someone who is able to put a comic characters into the very good movie adaptaion> And if its true that the story will be somewhat resembling the comic "Man of Steel", its even more superb with Nolan connceted to the project.
btw. yeah, I'm fan of Chris Nolan ^^

Watched From Paris with Love. Stupid movie, nothing interesting. Travolta really disappointed me in this movie.
