Can´t say anything about Short Term 12, haven´t seen it but i agree with Prisoners and Frances Ha and disagree with the rest, there were a lot of better movies in 2013 that stayed underappreciated.

Yankee Doodle Dandy and Gangs of New York were so good I'm rewatching 'em. Holy shit, Daniel Day-Lewis is just fabulous.

Next on my watch list is Spike Jonze's Her, interesting topic for our times. I have enjoyed all of his films from Being John Malkovich . This should be a fun ride!

I tried american hustle ... I couldn't bear it for more than one hour. It's a perfect example of self-congratulation for hollywood. It was boring, extremely boring. Good acting is not enough to make a good movie. It's not funny, it's not dramatic, it's not filled with action, It's not an adventure, it's not romantic, it's not informative, it's not scandalous, it's dull.

The typical kind of movies which will get comments like "If you didn't get it, it's because you're not smart enough". This movie is mainly an intellectual masturbation from Hollywood. People will say that they loved the movie just to be "hype".

AH is supposed to be a direct opponent to WoWS according critics. WoWS is so much more than AH ...

As many will disagree, I will just advise people to not watch this movie if you're tired. I was very tired before seeing the movie & the pace is so slow that I barely could stay awake.

I didn't see the whole movie & I might maybe enjoy it if I watched it while not being tired but I think it's unlikely. There aren't that many movies which left me with such a boring feeling.

Yeah, fell asleep during the first hour, the second half wasn't any better than the first, so I hope that it doesn't get any Oscar this year. Escape Plan was more entertaining.

Rewatching There Will Be Blood, and it's funny because I don't remember most scenes but the end. Great movie, but Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing.

"the perks of being a wallflower," was okay but somewhat slow and juvenile. Overall, it was bearable; therefore, I'd give it a 7/10.
Ender's Game- is super slow! and somewhat cheesy. 4/10 (being generous)
Don Jon- is alright, but definitely a third class film. 5/10

I wasn't even aware the Wachowski brothers were releasing a movie this year:


Looks like your usual sci-fi blockbuster, revolves around a boy and girl but pretends to paint a broader picture.

Godzilla, I am looking forward to. It's been a long time since Roland Emmerich's adaptation and this one seems similar to Pacific Rim a bit, whilst focusing on the beast. Rumour has it that other kaijus from the story would appear. We'll see.

Homefront, unfortunately, was super slow. I would only recommend watching it if you had absolutely nothing better to do, or if you have trouble sleeping haha 5/10 (generous).

I think that the list is quite good. Of course, nobody will agree on everything on the list but there are many different genres & most of those movies are acknoledged as good movies.

For me, the 3 elements that I really don't like:
- there is too much Wes Anderson (I can't stand his movies)
- no LOTR
- no Tarantino

Plus, 3 of my most favourite movies were out in 1999 (American Beauty, Fight Club & The matrix) and are just slightly out of the period.

Is old boy good?

Well, here's the thing. I did this list specifically based on the decade between 2000 and 2010 because me and my friend are big film fanatics and he believes there weren't too many classical masterpieces made during that period. I just think that, for today's upcoming generation, these few films made a somewhat medium impact to the industry.

Personally, Old Boy was pretty good, but I prefer the original manga story a lot better. I wish they'd make an animated series of this and should've, instead of the remake Spike Lee.

For me, I feel like, Tarantino's best work was made before 2000. The Kill Bill movies were okay. Death Proof was terrible and even, Tarantino admitted to that one. Inglorious Basterds was good, but not great compared to Tarantino's earlier work. But, that's just me.
