Finally watched Disney's hype movie Frozen. Wasn't disappointed. Those songs too OP!

So it was noah for me last night. It was just a loss of time. It s boring, overplayed and characters are psychopathic, delusional, desperate or just downright crazy. Cham is the only real human being of that thing.

I don t know who is the public for the movie. Religious people will be rightfully offended. Atheists or agnostics (like me) won t care. I suppose someone who hate religious people can have fun with this stupid nonsense.

It s not a faithful adaptation of the story, nor is it a parody ... it s just a mess

The film is far worse than a joke. It's not the first time religious people say they are offended by a "religious" movie. But this time, they are right. Noe is supposed to be a tormented good, not a psychopath who take the decision that he should kill his own family as well.
Plus, they can be faithful without being silly and taking each word literraly. They could have been faithful from an emotional point of view.

The problem is that it's not a parody, it's a serious movie which try to tell a story in such a way that religion looks bad. It really looks like it was deliberate and I have a problem with that. This movie is equal to a nazi documentary about jewish lifestyle. It can be entertaining but it is also completely innappropriate.

I finish with quoting Russell Crowe (imdb):

Russell Crowe explained his characterization of Noah as not necessarily having to be nice: "The funny thing with people being, they consider Noah to be a benevolent figure, you know? Because he looked after the animals. Are you kidding me? This is a dude who stood by and let the entire population of the planet perish!"

Basically, they took the worst aspect of the story and insisted on it. Was it really necessary to add to Noe a murderous intent towards his loved ones ? The main actor of this movie choose to see the character as a mass murderer instead of the savior of the innocent ones in a world that was condemned.

Why would they need a movie to tell them that? The whole discussion about who this movie is aimed at seems pretty fruitless to me. The director wanted to tell a story, regardless of it's source. That being said, it seems the critical reaction to it is pretty mixed, among the general and religious audiences/publications. It goes from one extreme to the other, which is actually pretty interesting to me.

Regardless of that, the studio is laughing because it's actually made money...which is all that really matters to them.

Colbert pointed out how the majority of religious critics hasn't even seen the movie, which pretty embarrassing. So I won't even begin to take them serious.

As far as noah goes, which I didn't particularly like to be honest, the big issue is that it is ultimately an environment movie. Noah going all genocidal is not necessarily a bad move as far as getting creative with the story goes but making a movie about the environment does change a lot of the message. The traditional story is about god not taking kindly to humanity deviating from the proper path and going immoral and stuff. That particular premise seems lost to me in the movie. The issue here was industrialization, abusing the land, technology. So the result of switching morality for the environment ended up looking like this:

People: God! we have multiplied, as told, but we need food! We are going to use the land to grow food and turn it into adequate shelter to protect us!
God: What? No, live of the earth or something something environment.
People: But that is impossible! We could never scavenge and hunt enough for thousands or hundreds of thousands! Even attempting to scavenge to that extent would kill thousands and succeeding would ruin the land! Why did you tell us to reproduce in a world where you can't possibly scavenge for that many people?
God: Dude, take a hint, fuck you.
Noah: Yeah, fuck you for wanting food and shelter and a better life. Its all your fault for learning the technology and wisdom god's angels brought you. If you had not taken advantage of it you wouldn't have had the resources to actually increase as a population to a point where scavenging was not enough.

The movie might have actually been more enjoyable if it hadn't been a "the day after tomorrow" that shamelessly tries to blindside you and shove the worst of environmentalism somewhere where it would be a sin for it to be shoved. It should have focused more on stuff that would make sense would piss of the creator and whatnot.

New "X-Men: Days of Future Past" trailer is the final one for the film coming out next month. Looks awesome and probably the best one in my opinion.

Kim ki-duk's Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring was just an overall rare arthouse movie I bumped into recently thanks to a suggestion by MM(MiyamotoMusashi), I guess I can sometimes re-watch certain scenes to enjoy it even more, the story was not moralistic but the enjoyment of watching how everything was done in a poetic way certainly got me to consider watching and to comapre more of Kim ki-duk's movies. I would suggest diving into his work for other as well.

So i just come back from amazing spiderman 2 and i was disappointed. It s a good movie with amazing special effects and fights. It s also funny and garfield is by far a better spiderman than tobey mc guire who was a casting error.

But the movie has a weird rythm. Lots of up and down, for each good scene there is a scene that bored me.

Villains are over the top. Electro is a parody of a nerd. Nobody is that nerdy. Rhino is beyond stupid. Harry osborn is a little better. All the acting scenes with electro are overplayed.

The love story between spidey and gwen is unfortunately the center point of the movie. In a spiderman movie, i want to see more spidey and less parker.

Watched some stuff I missed few years back yesterday. Silverlinings Playbook and Taken. Silverlinings was a very good film. It was genuinely funny and touching, and damn well acted. Cooper, Lawerence and DeNiro nailed their roles. I haven't enjoyed a romantic comedy this much since 40 years a Virgin. And Silverlinings was way better, it went beyond that line where comedy becomes something more.

Taken on the other hand was solid action-thriller. I liked it it, watching it kept me on my toes. And I didn't quite get what the film tried to say. You need mad agent skills and contacts to pop stars to be a good dad? Listen to daddy, France is evil, don't leave your home state ever? But maybe I'm just expecting too much. It was after all, and action film, and very good one at that.

I thought This is The End was kind of overrated honestly. People made a big commotion about it. I think the concept was funny, it just didn't get me laughing like 21 Jump Street, Superbad, Tropic Thunder, or Stepbrothers did.
