It's getting ridiculous.

What I don't like about the whole thing is most of these people waiting in the line aren't even wanting to play the PS3 for fun, but to make money off it.

Sort of feel like they're all Grinches who stole the Christmas, or something to that effect...

I can't blame the homeless that are in line 'cause after all it's a good opportunity for them to make money. I can't blame the guys who want to buy a PS3 to sell it on the net to some wealthy brat, I mean, if I had a 600$ PS3 and could sell it 6000$, I would have put it on ebay at once. No, the ones to blame on this, and it pains me to say so, because I'm a PS fan, are the Sony guys. To try to counter the Wii, they had to rush the release of the PS3, and it's turning out into the biggest mess ever

In my opinion, they should have waited a whole year to release it, trying to decrease the production costs, and producing a lot more to release. In a year, it will still be the great videogame system it is, and people getting tired of playing the Wii would have been glad to have something new to play. I'm pretty sure this is the biggest mistake Sony ever made, and I hope it won't doom the Playstation series since it's still my favorite system

Hmph, what the hell is wrong with these wealthy people. Giving 200$ to someone, just because he or she is willing to stand in line and buy you a PS3, that you're going to sell later anyway?
And the shootings are not because of the PS3. The robbers thought it was a good opportunity, that's all.
I agree with you GK. It's really disappointing that gaming die-hard fans are unable to buy it on release day just because others who don't even play want to profit from it. But what to do... Sony could have released more than 80k units, but I guess it has something to do with marketing strategies.

i think 600$ is jus too much, ofc no other platform can match with ps3 in terms of grafics, but i actually have a pc for all nice looking games, e.g. nfs carbon will be a releasetitel in march 2007, but it has already been released on the pc, so i actually wanna have sth funny, to have some action with my friends and so nintendo just did the right thing with that ubercontroller thing and i can't wait to get the naruto, one piece and bleach games

Waiting for the price to drop means waiting more than a year, and even than, it won't be all that much. Also, playing games on releaseday means you can play at the same time everybody else plays it, discuss it, and have a lot more fun. Actually, games you can discuss with friends and spazz over together are the only ones worth the money for me, if i check out my collection... =/ Contrary to popular belief, it's a very social hobby!


Also note: "guns dont kill people, people do" and likewise with playstations. if shootings occur, the cause doesnt lie in videogames, marketing strategies and such, but in the people themselves, don't mix up the cause with the trigger. Crazy people will just subconsciously find another reason to do crazy things if there was no ps3 to focus it on.

I am a hardcore gamer who lives in sweden and i won't get ps3 until Mars 2007. But i will have Wii in 8 december and i would gladely stand in line to get a Wii on release day and when the ps3 comes here. I feel very sorry for those who could not get a release consol in china and even more for those who was shot.

I didn't mean to imply the PS3 was at fault for these shootings, but things are that are happening all over the country because of impatient fans not being smart enough to know how to protect themselves, and lack of security.

My main issue is the whole craziness - that people are actually so impatient and eager to buy a PS3 that they'll go to any lengths to get one - including buying $6000 for a $600 system and making the rich richer. People have no more restraint these days it seems.

LOL this is hallerious and sickening at the same times. I think I will got the game sys next year too, when they have some good games specilize for PS3 come out. Anyway $600 or $6000 for fun is a bit too much (not included games). Well with this I think the next coming issue will be fake PS3, underground PS3 making black market with all the mafia and gangers involved. May sound unrealistic, but it is very realistic.
