*adjusts tin foil for a snugger fit*

...are actually real dragons from 'the heavens'. As in, they're at least the "original 20" that invented the scam of the "empty throne". The Gorosei recognize the power of the real celestial dragons and collude with them to keep everything 'balanced'.

The humans that call themselves "celestial dragons" are pretty much just stooge bloodlines installed by the real dragons to subjugate by proxy. All the bloodline purity nonsense by the celestial chumps is exactly that- utter nonsense.

Bonus: Kaidou is a fallen celestial dragon. Vegapunk's crown research was in creating as legit a zoan as possible out of the strongest known creature.

Double bonus: Kaidou's power and shapeshifting and immortality are wholly innate as a fallen, albeit real, celestial dragon. As a creature 'from the heavens' he can't house a 'devil' from a devil fruit.

Huh, okay. Here's another theory:

The Celestial Dragons are the original 19 families that founded the World Government. They used Ope Ope fruit to gain immortality, that's how Doflamingo knew about it.

I think "they" would be way too many people. The descendants of 19 kings from 800 years ago could easily number in the thousands nowadays. That said, I do like the theory that someone out there acquired immortality via the ope ope no mi. And I'd say the most likely candidate for that is Im. I'd be very fitting if the true antagonist of this series actually was a king from 800 years ago. Also, "im" could stand for, wait for it, immortal. Assuming that is the correct romanization and everything.

Going a bit further, it wouldn't be too strange if the gorosei are also immortal... But I don't think there can be more immortals than that.

I don't think there would be that many Tenryuubito, since one can summon an Admiral for pity reasons.

I mean there already seems to be far more than 20 of the 'celestial chumps'. I highly doubt the Charloss and Don Quixote families are the only ones in Mariejois. Having those chumps descended from the original chumps that made a deal with the actual dragons suggests that there are quite a few families living in Mariejois.

The fact they can all just summon admirals on a whim is a bit of a story flaw regardless of anything in this theory. The buster call is an even bigger example of this flaw, kinda ridiculous they can ALL just mobilize that level of military might on a whim. Although that could be explained away as the people in Mariejois don't seem to like leaving Mariejois unless they wanna purchase slaves or something.

Nah, don't see the Tenryuubito being or consisting of any dragons.

It is technically off topic but I never considered the Buster Call impressive. There are far too many ships for that. It would need to be like thirty warships to impress me. What's the use of Pluton, then?

As for the dragon deal... it feels like Im is functioning in a similar capacity. Im seems all nature-loving, but he/she could very easily be a violent psychopath who likes crushing butterflies or picking off their wings off panel, and we just don't know it yet. Could also be someone even more paranoid than Ussop who figured out how to protect themselves with entire globe-bestriding organization, Zehahahahah!

We just don't know. We also have no way of knowing how big these families currently are, how many may have fallen from grace like the Donquixote, or possibly died off. One would imagine some of these woe-begone looking "celestial dragons", ended up unable to breed. I mean, the males at least look like they rely exclusively on forced marriages to reproduce. Wouldn't surprise me if some even failed at that! Though that one female Celestial Dragon was pretty hot, if crazy as the rest, as was Doffy and Rosinante's mother (Assuming she was not a commoner beforehand), so who knows for sure on that.

What makes me wonder about all this is why Garp, given the significance of the word "Dragon" in One Piece, with the likes of Kaido and the Celestial Dragons, decided to name his son "Dragon". Maybe that lends credence to the theory? And perhaps even is foreshadowed by the tattoos on his face? Surely they mean something more than a fashion statement. I mean, Monkey D. Dragon has the face of a man who does not "do" fashion... unless the uniforms everyone wears are actually all his idea...
