Why do you guys make "once upon a time" sounds so sad?
It sounds ironic if you consider the fact that that words are mostly used for happy-ending fairy tales.

Why do you guys make "once upon a time" sounds so sad?
It sounds ironic if you consider the fact that that words are mostly used for happy-ending fairy tales.

It's quite boring for me (D) Since i remember my junior highschool english teacher said: "Don't ever use 'Once upon a time' when you write a story. You're already on junior highschool."

Aw, come on. It's really okay to use that as long as you have a good reason for using it. I still encounter many "once upon a time" in storybooks and the authors manage to make it not boring, because what actually matters is what follows after the "once upon a time". I actually think that using "once upon a time" evokes a classic feeling and sometimes it feels magical. And I think it's the same reason why some authors still use it until now, to evoke that kind of feeling in the readers' imagination. And don't let me get started with "Long, long time ago" or "Far, far way"...

But indeed, using it too many times will make it lose its meaning, which is why some authors only use it once or twice and only when it's appropriate.
