Re: True or False? - Part 1

False. Yet other people do.

@Googlez,

Since your back, let's continue :p ; One-shots are not that hard, just don't do too much details and don't try to crop (or stretch) it too much, if you keep doing things like that you're bound to make a mistake or do the job poorly. Character development is mostly the same thing, for ex. shounen one-shot, it's the same old school boy who's shy but gets brave because the girl he likes is in danger etc. etc.

The character developmrnt is one of the easiest (and clicheist) things for one-shot and short story's. The hard part is a good theme which would do good with a bigger audience. For ex. Naruto = Ninjas.

Actually doesn't want (us) to continue the conversation of yesterday

Re: True or False? - Part 1

False:)

That's where my own personality comes into the game.I don't want to do this cliche story and character development,I actually would hate to do that.
Though i guess it would not be a bad thing, because I can practise and try out all the storytelling and the drawings.A big theme for a manga(like the ninja in Naruto, pirates in OP and the shinigami in Bleach) is only necessary for a serialized manga, because it's mostly not that important in a one-shot.
Naruto for example did not really have a theme like this in it's one-shot.There were demons and Naruto was able to transform, but there was no real theme like ninja.

anyway,i drew some pages yesterday and i want to scan them, but my mom's laptop(mine is not working at the moment) somehow fails at scanning,so the scans have to wait...

wants to see the scans^^

Re: True or False? - Part 1

True. I'm always interested in things like that.

But you're right, I don't like cliche things at all, it doesn't mean I dislike them, but something new is (most of the times) always better. And a big theme is always important, even in an one-shot, you don't have to get into details and such, but it's always important to leave views on your main theme. Indeed, in the Naruto one-shot that wasn't really the case, I don't think it was aimed for the big audience either. But as you can see the manga itself is basically completely different.

Wants to share what his project is about?

Re: True or False? - Part 1

True,it's about nothing:XD

I'm just practising. How big a panel has to be,the whole panelstructure, different angles, speechbubbles, consistent drawings, good flow and all that.I think a big theme can be nice, but it's also good without it and can even be better, because it's a bigger challenge.
I mean i could also make a samurai-tournament with swordfights,but that's lame.
Do you know what i mean?sometimes the plot seems better because of that theme, eventhough it's really lame.
Though there is still the option of having a new theme with a lot of originality like OP.

i just remembered a story that i came up with,which i actually liked:o

wants to hear this story

Re: True or False? - Part 1

True.

Getting good structure on pages can be hard, it might look good in your eyes, but in the eyes of other the way the panels flow could be bad or irritating. Just look at the difference between shounen and shoujo manga. It's huge, mostly it's one of the reasons why most shounen readers don't read shoujo manga. It's the same reason why I didn't like shoujo to begin with. (Now it's a different story)

Thinks that shoujo-structure is horrible.

Re: True or False? - Part 1

if you mean those long panels
online viewing:True
volume reading: Don't know,since i don't have shoujo manga at home^^
they are somehow weird long panel that go to the very bottom of the site(example:http://www.onemanga.com/7th_Period_is_a_Secret/1/12/)
and when i read a shoujo series, reading it online can get veery annoying, because i have to go down and up and down and up to view one page and sometimes there are some structures that i find weird, but I think it would be better in tanks.Plus most of the panels are huge speech bubbles or tones.
Drawing a shoujo manga has to be easy:p
I do read shoujo's,but most of them have the same story and the art is mostly shit and not better than in shonen, not talking about seinen
(and ugh @ bishounen characters>_<)

likes shoujo manga
