Yeah. It's probably primarily a survival game in a post apocalyptic setting with a touch of horror...I guess.Thought with the mutants being in the game there'll be some jump scares.I haven't encountered any yet,I think and If I had it didn't have much impact on me.

I see.If Redux is a two part original story then I hope they aren't just milking the franchise and delivering forced garbage in the form of Exodus.Don't want another franchise turning into Assassin's Creed >.>''
How far are you into it to not be sure yet? :notsure There's a few jump scares behind doors. The rest is rather telegraphed by sound effects. For me the most unnerving part of the game were the Librarians.

The original game came out in 2010. The original property, the book, has already been exploited as hell (might not be true of the quality of all of the novels and boardgames, but I'll pleade ignorance). The original writer works on the games now, other people write books in it's universe. The developers could have sold out ages ago and didn't. Most evident by them not giving any platform exclusivity deals. I'd say it's highly unlikely, simply because they wouldn't even have the manpower to do it, compared to something by Ubisoft.

Just got into Chapter 1 after the prologue :p I don't think there were any in the prologue.

Makes sense.

xdddddd No, I actually got Redux on sale some time ago. But I guess I was more motivated to play it over other stuff. (but I did get the 2 Wolfenstein games for $8 a piece after that trailer :kappa)

Mmmm, not sure what I could really say without spoiling the surprise. I guess just pick what seems interesting. Where are you in the game?
I don't really like Wolfenstein's art style for some reason, not even the classic ones. I'm getting bored easily with generic shooter games anyway, so unless I get them when they're on 80% sale or something, I think it's unlikely for me to play them. Too bad the new Metro is going to be exclusive to Microsoft for some time, eh? I would be more excited if there's a new Dead Space game in development rather than a new Metro.

I just got my first non-lethal gun, pretty much very early in the game. I'm not sure how long this game is though.

Ah, then no real reason to be terrified, even if there were, lol. Nub.

Art style? :notsure Don't really know if I'd describe it as "generic", but fair enough. And well, the site I use has The New Order and The Old Blood for dirt cheap and decent deals on pre-orders, so I'll probably take advantage.

Exclusive how? That's not what I've heard. They haven't even put out a specific release date yet, only 2018.

Dead Space? Really? I heard a decent amount of disappointment with the last one. Didn't sell that well either iirc.

Animation? C.G.I? Whatever it is, I just don't like the visuals. Yeah I bet you had a great deal if you nabbed it when it was on sale.

'Exclusive' just like how Tomb Raider was 'exclusive'. There won't be a PS4 version until later, though I'm not sure if that's true, I can't remember much of the E3 presentation.

Yeah the ending was suck, but overall I love the atmosphere and the horror - no matter how 'cheap' it is - too bad last time I heard they're going to put a halt into its development.

Maybe you don't give a shit about whatever other people are saying, but I just want to say I agree with just about 85% of what this guy says on why Dead Space is memorable for me.

Oh, more console nonsense... nvm. :kappa But I honestly doesn't don't recall that, especially since I'm pretty sure the developers had been against such things in the past. It could be that it won't run in 60fps on PS4 Pro, while it will on XBoxOnex, but who knows.

Yeah, I played the original a bit years ago. Seemed like a good "re-application" of what made RE4 so popular. I picked it up on Steam at some point but never got around to playing it.

I just finished it on the other day and the ending was so.. eh?

The post-credit ending kinda ruins the game for me. It makes any kind of emotional investment in the characters invalid because those NPCs aren't 'real' and you're pretty much just going through the simulation. Some people say that it's sequel bait-y, but considering that you could kill Alex at the very end, I don't think the story could be continued after that unless in the sequel you're playing a totally different character. What do you think about the ending?

The gameplay is really great though, but overall I gotta say that Dishonored 2 is still the studio's best work to date.

The ending is "choose-your-own-adventure" in nature, just like the rest of the game really. I understand being unsatisfied though, but when it comes to sequels to these kind of multiple-ending games, they usually invalidate player choice in some way because a canon ending has to be chosen as a basis. Unless they go with something entirely continuation-based. But that seems sort of rough, given how much player freedom is given.

You could kill Alex at multiple times during the game, same with all the other characters/operators you came across. There's even the secret December questline that makes you bail on Talos I and end the game super early. So a sequel would always have these kinds of issues, simply because those options exist. This happened in the Dishonored series already, considering that Daud is still alive in the game's universe, yet he can be killed in the first game's DLC, depending on the choices you make there.

Dishonored 2's story was somewhat of a disappointment to me. Technically the game was great, an improvement over the original in nearly every way. But the story, particularly the villain, was really quite trite and uninspired, Which isn't something I'd expect from the series, in all honesty. Hopefully with Daud's return, the next game will redeem it for me. I enjoyed playing as him just as much (or even more) than Corvo.

I understand you can kill Alex multiple times, but apart from the one who appear in the last scene, those Alexes aren't "real", no? Whereas if you decide to kill Alex at the very end, that's pretty much means that his plans to alter the brain of a sentient Typhon fails and I think it's really hard to continue the story from there if the ending is truly intended to be a sequel bait. I just think that the post-credit pretty much ruins the story line because all these interpersonal relationships and transcribes and dramas and e-mails turn out to be a one giant lie.

I just don't understand why they even put Corvo as a possible player character. Like, I understand that gameplay-wise it means that the player could try different runs with different playstyles but narratively it makes little sense to me. If you're playing as Emily, you get this Prince and Pauper storyline that allows her to develop as a character, whereas if you're playing as Corvo then the storyline is pretty much the same as the previous game, the only difference is that Emily has tits now.

You could take the position that none of the choices matter because it's a simulation, but then the opposite is also true given that the entire thing was an evalution, plus your choice at the end. And while I'm not sure it would work a second time around, the fact that the entire thing was a simulation opens up a lot of potential possibilities for DLC and even sequels. But I'd prefer it'd be something based in the real world. The major problem with this is that the details are rather scarce, aside from knowing the Typhon are on Earth. But if you're asking if I'd play more of the game, story-aside, the answer would be yes.

I don't think all of the details are a lie though, considering we know the simulation is based on Morgan's life. Regardless of the choice the player makes, this could easily result in a sequel. I even think it could work as a continuation, given that I don't think Alex needs to be alive to further any potential story really. Especially since the current game gives the player a lot of freedom as to how "good' or "evil" they want to be.

So then the story is somehow markedly different for Emily just because she isn't Corvo? Maybe it's not something I'm aware of since I never got far into an Emily playthrough, but I don't imagine it could be much different story-wise. I like that you're given a choice as who to play as, as a I think a lot of people would be thrown off by it not being Corvo, but dunno. Now I'm wondering if the next game is going to let you play as Billie or Daud.

Telltale Games...? :residentsleeper

So far I've picked up Hyper Light Drifter, Hollow Knight, and South Park: The Stick of Truth. There's a few more things that interest me, like Tyranny, Grim Dawn, Aragami, DS3, and Nier. But either the sale isn't that impressive or I have a hard time justifying buying it when I might not realistically get to play them before the Winter Sale hits, given the new releases coming this Autumn.

So what would happen assuming that the PC kills Alex at the end? Like, if there's a Prey 2 some time in the future, I don't know if there's a lot of possibilities for expansion. You don't need Alex, but I interpret that action as refusing to work on behalf of humanity, thus there's nothing else to do assuming that the PC can go back to Earth. Different story if somehow the developer insists that the canon route is you shake Alex's hand at the end though. And yes, I can't disagree with your last point, gameplay wise it's so great, and I would even say that it's substantially better than FO 4.

And because of the lore is so scarce, I don't think we can really tell which part of the story line is Morgan's authentic memories. I'm kind of disappointed that even the 4 main NPCs (Danielle, Mikhaila, Igwe, and Selazhar) are just robots, lol. I also don't really see the importance of planting Morgan's memories because it's kinda irrelevant because there's no conversational options, unless the memory-inception part is necessary for the simulation.

Oh by the way I experienced this strange bug almost at the very end of the game where Mikhaila just disappeared/dead for no apparent reason. Even though I saved her from dying, but during the final evaluation she said I let her died and I was like WTF?

Telltale games are not that bad, wtf. I've been trying to find some time to play the Borderlands one because some people say it's the best Telltale game. I decided to buy the Batman game simply because it's super cheap, approx. 5 bucks.

What are you planning to get this Autumn? I think Hollow Knight is a great pickup. I played it on my friend's PC, and I'm planning to buy it for myself now. I might be interested in buying Ori since I'm looking forward to play the sequel as well. The only AAA titles that I'm interested in is either Tomb Raider or Shadow of Mordor (which is super cheap) but other than that I dunno if there's anything else that I need to buy.

I recommend you to buy both Inside and Bayonetta, assuming you haven't bought those games.

I assumed that last scene took place on Earth for some reason. At least, I didn't immediately have a reason to believe that Talos I was still in existence. But I guess that's neither here nor there.

Well, it's essentially Dishonored gameplay, except they took the "do-it-your-way" method to another level. Also there's the element of crafting and resource management that was expanded even further. (I believe you could craft Whalebone charms in Dishonored but I never bothered with it).

How do we know those 4 are just robots? I mean, at that point and time they might be, but I don't have reason to believe they never existed, for instance.

Was Mikhaila in the shuttle? When did she disappear?

I was really disappointed with the GoT one. Took some random show-based tale that seemed of no consequence. Hopefully Bethesda can do something better with the IP. And idk, maybe it was just a bad example but all of those Telltale games seem like they might be interesting stories, but it's the rather obvious "illusion of choice" with them that turns me off.

Well, a few of the things mentioned at E3. New Dishonored for sure, and most likely Wolfenstein. Also interested in Cuphead and maybe Vampyr. A lot of other stuff piqued my interest as well, like new Metro, Anthem. But those are all marked 2018 iirc. So you add those new ones on top of backlog I already have and I'll probably be set until Winter, at the very least.

Ah I see. Well I think it's somewhere up there in the spaceship.

Speaking about crafting, do you think that the developer indirectly discouraged heavy usage of guns? I swear I felt like finding and recycling Mineral materials were a lot harder than finding exotics, and exotics is supposed to be rarer. My build was primarily stealth with firearms, so I was struggling pretty hard at the endgame phase.

I dunno, I'm just speculating. I'm also curious if Alex is truly alone in doing the experiment though, I think it's unlikely.

Yes, she was in Morgan's office. I think this happened before I met both Alex and January at the end before the credit rolled. I heard her moaning, but it's just so weird because there was no enemy or Nightmare or whatever inside Morgan's office, so it's highly likely that it's a bug.

The illusions of choice has been plaguing narrative-heavy games these days. Bioware & Telltale & Bethesda seemingly unaware of this problem though, even though they market their games as "shape your own narrative" kinda thing.

Not really. It's quite easy to burn through ammo given how someone would feel inclined the play the game. The exotic materials come from every enemy and I think you only use them for 1 thing iirc. I mainly spec'd into Engineering/Scientist with a bit of Security. Once I realized I used too many Typhon mods, I found an earlier save.

Well, if he's on the Talos still, then probably not.

Heard her moaning? I remember her being like that before you went and got her medicine, but never encountered anything like that afterwards. Idk, if she was on the Shuttle then I don't know how she could have died.

I'm fine with it if there's more to the game than just story. The issue with Telltale games is that's essentially all they have, outside of occasional QTEs. It honestly felt like I had more freedom with Prey's outcome than I did with Telltale GoT...lol

Yes, and that's why I said that the developer is kinda discouraging you from using only guns to kill the enemies. Even after leveling up Combat Focus and Firearms to the highest level, the damage output of the handgun is curiously dismal even when it's been fully upgraded. I don't think there's a 'correct' way to play the game, but I wish when I started I knew that turrets are handy to kill the enemies and conserve your ammo, or throwing things with Leverage is generally effective. Mineral materials are pretty much being used to create almost all items in the game, and the cost of mineral material for making ammo is a tad excessive, IMO.

Yes, I heard her screaming "Eeeeuuugghh" or something along the line. I couldn't see her because I was using the fabricator, and when I turned back suddenly she was nowhere to be seen, and there was no corpse too. I'm almost sure it's a bug though.

Ultimately I think it's rather realistic in this way. There were only a few instances where I was out of ammo completely. The handgun felt superior to the shotgun in every way, simply due to range and rate of fire. Just have to learn not to waste it IMO.

The illusions of choice has been plaguing narrative-heavy games these days. Bioware & Telltale & Bethesda seemingly unaware of this problem though, even though they market their games as "shape your own narrative" kinda thing.
As much as I love The Walking Dead and Game of Throne Telltale games...I agree. I never once felt like my choices, in any of their games, shaped the adventure. Differences in small words throughout the game is not "shaping the game to your choices".

There aren't a lot of games that truly do though. The last time I felt like my choices mattered in some way was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Mass Effect 1.

I don't think that I wasted it, lol. It's just the damage output is so poopy I ended up using my shotgun most of the time. Yeah, there are some ways to save some ammo: by extensively using turrets and/or throwing stuff, which I wish I'd known before I started.

The first and half of the second season of TWD were great IMO. I haven't tried GoT, but I'm uninterested in getting it because seemingly it adds nothing to the overall GoT universe experience (though this fact is unsurprising for me). The most memorable make-your-own-choices games for me are Dragon Age:Origins and Fallout : NV. There are myriad of possibilities in shaping your own story, and most of the time your decisions have immediate and meaningful consequences (even though admittedly some of them are somewhat exaggerated.) I love the gameplay of Mass Effect, but for some reason I couldn't really get emotionally invested in the narrative, but maybe because I marathon'd it when I played it thus diminishing the suspense.

Did you upgrade damage for them at all in the Security Tree? Did you use Weapon upgrades? I think the pistol is better overall simply because the shotgun requires a lot of close-range encounters, and that's something that's usually worth avoiding. I would typically combo the weapons with other abilities, especially that one Typhon exploding thingy. Would typically go for EMP against operators, Neural lure or grenade against Typhon. Made picking things off way easier and requiring less bullets. Plus, using Stealth also increases sneak damage as well. What difficulty did you play it on anyways? Maybe spare ammo is rarer in higher difficulties, I only played it on Normal or Hard iirc.

I agree on that. The first season and about half of the second were great. I can't really find much love for season three. And yea, at the moment I don't think the game connects to the show but from what I remember the show creators help make it so you never know? Could come to tie in with the spinoffs. If it doesn't though, its still pretty good even if you don't really "decide" anything. If you ever see it for really cheap though, I definitely suggest picking it up. Very solid story telling, at the very least! :)

I haven't tried DA:O yet, and the last time I played NV was years ago so my memory is really spotty for it*. As for ME, I started with ME3 which the overall threat presented in ME1 seems much bigger. I think it made me appreciate the slow story in ME1 more. I can see why its narrative couldn't interest a lot of people though. It definitely had its flaws, too.

*now you made me want to replay NV. :kappa
