Post about forgotten, neglected, or unfairly reviled anime favorites in this thread. Please be sure to say why it's underrated, what makes it worth watching, and what makes it worth revisiting.
Shigofumi: A seemingly forgotten gem from JC Staff. Shigofumi is a fairy tail about overcoming adversity, finding closure and acceptance. Released to middling popularity in 2008, Shigofumi now seems forgotten by most, and rarely discovered, or passed down, to newer generations of fandom. Sharply written, perceptive, well animated, and directed; Shigofumi will appeal to fans of anime like Angel Beats, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, and Natsume's Book of Friends. Chief director Satou Tatsuo went on to helm Mini-Skirt Pirates and Rinne no Larange. Kuroboshi Kohaku, artist of the Kino no Tabi novels, designed the characters. Code Geass's Okouchi Ichiro wrote the script. Episode director Nagai Tatsuyuki (taking the Shigofumi animation staff with him) would go on to direct Toradora, Railgun, Anohana, and Anonatsu. All in all a very good anime that deserves to be revisted.
