Franky had a fascination with weapons and inventions, wouldn't that hint something from his past?

Fascination with science can come from anywhere, but regardless, that's not what I asked. Surely Franky would have memories of his parents being in MADS as scientists and not just pirates, or is a further explanation warranted there?

When Franky's body was damaged and he turned himself into a cyborg using parts of a ship, that ships looks like the abandoned MADs ship, which would explain how it had the technology for Franky to turn himself into a cyborg.
