Conceivably, he might be assuming that Ultra Jump's target audience might be more interested in picking up a volume with giant sci-fi monsters on the cover than little girls. Crazy, I know, but I can't think of any other explanation.

The lack of cute girls is just one of the problems (it is more like a commercial problem since cute girls is appealing to the readers and nobody can deny it). Thre cover is ugly when it comes to design. It is not worth of the drawing of the series.

But it sure can.

Q monster design is better than Q character design. Makes sense to show it off in interesting composition with a an imposing sense of scale instead of making yet another "characters posing on uniform background" type of cover that plague the industry.

To be honest, I probably wouldn't be interesting in buying Q if there were only cute girls on the cover, the monsters make this really interesting.

No idea what you guys are talking about, Q's cover is one of the most interesting I've seen lately. They're unique and beautiful. Really minimalistic with a great atmosphere, says a lot more about what the author is trying to convey than some random character(s) in a cool pose.

Creativity shouldn't be discouraged in this industry, almost all covers in this thread look the same. The few artists that challenge this notion should be respected and encouraged.

speaking of shitty covers, though, man I wish RiN had covers that weren't just MC holding manga tools. he had this problem with BECK, too, which was such a great manga. all covers are just MC with his guitar.
