Very interesting read. I do recall hearing that the Wano Kingdom are so powerful the WG don't interfere in their dealings. While it makes sense, the Wano Kingdom has its borders closed, so if Sentomaru is really from Wano which would make sense, I do wonder who he's related to by birth and why he's outside. We know he wasn't a marine when he accompanied Kizaru, but he had become a marine by the end of the time-skip. Would be nice to get more background on his character.

Vegapunk might have saved sentomaru like sabo was saved by dragon and thus he followed vegapunk but due to his wano convictions he at first will not join the marines but will stay loyal and protect his savior. Eventually he had a change of heart and joined the Marines.

Is this prediction good enough? Lol just kind of spontaneously thought of this so I want to point out that this japanese tale also (as others have pointed out over a year ago) applies to momonosuke.

Hello there MH community! I think everyone is as excited as me about the incoming Wano arc, so to make some time until we finally reach it, I'll share my theory with you, which may or may not become one of the plots of the arc.

Theory: Sentomaru is from Wano, and will play a key role in the Wano arc, and the downfall of Kaido.
Another less likely theories:
-
Sentomaru is Shogun's Son.
- Vegapunk will make his appearance in Wano.

- Reasoning

Sentomaru is from Wano
  • He is the first character in the series to have his name written in kanji, rather than katakana (barring aliased people like the three admirals). This characteristic is later shared with those from Wano Country.
  • Sentomaru's fighting style is based in Sumo, which is a famous part from Japan's culture, and goes in line with Wano-Japan recurring similarities (Samurai, Ninja...etc).
Sentomaru-Momotaro Similarities and his role agains Kaido
I think Sentomaru is based in Momotaro, the main character of the Momotaro chronicles:
  • According to the present form of the tale. Momotaro came to Earth inside a giant peach which was found floating down a river, by an old, childless woman who was washing clothes there. The woman and her husband discovered the child when they tried to open the peach to eat it. The child explained that he had been sent by Heaven to be their son. The couple named him Momotarō, from momo (peach) and taro (eldest son in the family).
  • Sentomaru's name contains the kanji for 'peach' (桃). Actually his full name Sentomaru (戦桃丸 - literally means "Battle Peach Boy") , and his outfit includes a 'heaven' tomoe emblem.
  • During Momotaro's adventures he meets different animals, more specifically a Pheasant, a Dog and a Monkey, who become his companions and support him during his fights. The admirals' epiphets; Aokiji (Blue Pheasant), Akainu (Red Dog), and Kizaru (Yellow Monkey), are also based on Momotaro legends. This reinforce the idea of Sentomaru being based on Momotaro.
  • In Momotaro's chronicles, with the help of his friends, Momotaro manage to defeat an Oni. If previous theories about Kaido-Oni are real, Sentomaru may play an important role in his defeat.
Sentomaru - Shogun's son? (pure speculation)
  • This idea comes from Momotaro's name, 'taro' meaning 'eldest son of the family'. Indeed, this doesn't neccessarily imply that Sentomaru is the Shogun's son, however, if I assume my theory to be real, it would justify the inclussion of Sentomaru in Wano arc, otherwise, he is just some random Wano ex-citizen, which makes it much less interesting.
In case someone comes saying Kizaru is Sentomaru's s uncle:
  • Sentomaru refers to Kizaru as "Uncle" (黄猿のオジキ, Kizaru no Ojiki, a Japanese word commonly used to refer to a yakuza family "father" boss). The Japanese term used does not mean they are family. It truly means that the pair are on a high level of respect.
Wano- Vegapunk
  • Everytime we've seen Sentomaru, he has been accompanied by Pacifista, and his rank is 'Science Captain' so it is quite safe to assume he is working close with Vegapunk. If my theory is real, and Sentomaru plays an important role in Wano arc, we may see Vegapunk make an appearance, which would be really interesting.
I hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to share any thought about it or theory you may have about possible Wano's plots.
Nice :super.

Theory: Sentomaru is from Wano, and will play a key role in the Wano arc, and the downfall of Kaido.
Really good theory, enjoyed it, though there's one point I'll be surprised if it really happens, and that is Sentomaru playing an important role in Wano.

I mean, there are tons of characters already that will be pretty important, we have the beast (Kaido), his disasters, important crew mates (other than the disasters) and then the allied (Shogun included) crews (possibly). This is just on Kaido's camp.
And of course, MC Luffy, his full crew, law, entire populace of zou, Marco (and possibly some of WB other commanders).
Then again, Bigmom and everyone present at the tea party is aware luffy is going after Kaido (because luffy couldn't keep his mouth shut), so, add in to that possibility, few underworld heavyweights might show up, won't be surprised either, if Sabo shows up to help his little brother (adding to an already bulky list of characters)
And then there's the Strawhat's grand fleet with Bartolomeo and co, and then the worst generation (who knows how many might show up). The list is endless and there are lots of potential people who have direct conflict with Kaido, ones the news of luffy wanting to fight kaido gets out (probably at the end of this arc), other yonkou's too, might see that as an opportunity to do some damage, honestly, as of now, sentomaru feels like an outsider, if at all he shows up, the only role I see him playing is to round up the Kaido pirates after they've been defeated.

One of the theories you stated is that he could be shogun's son.
Thinking about this, it might be possible.
We know the country, Wano, is so powerful that the WG don't interfere in their business, it could be that they stole or kidnapped sentomaru when he was little and probably used him to threaten (or motivate) the Shogun to rise against kozuki. The WG will surely be the ones to benefit if Wano is in shambles, so they can have it under their control.
My guess is, in order for the shogun to save his son (when the WG informed him they were in possession of him, after so many years of him not knowing), he went in bed with Kaido in order to win the war against kozuki, but along the line, things went sour, so he decided to stick with Kaido when he realized what the WG intends doing.

Won't be surprised if the WG kidnapped and lied to him that kizaru is his Uncle, Lol.

If Teach kills Kaidou, and becomes the oni that marines must go and slay, then i think your theory is correct.
Wano is just a theater for other battle. Interesting nevertheless.
