Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

They do siphon sales from each other but, the DVD edition is a lot more expensive than the regular, I could make a lot more money when the bundles come out.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Anyone know if the two versions were any different other than the DVD version having the DVD? Cuz for Japanese CDs for example, the DVD version might have a different cover and maybe some other extras, so hardcore fans will actually buy both normal and DVD versions, boosting sales quite a bit. Wondering if similar situations might apply here.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Given how solid that week was with sales, it doesn't look like we'll be getting an idea of how Enigma's first volume actually sold...

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

I'm going to wonder how long Shingeki no Kyojin going to stay on top 30.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

It would seem that Jump Comics didn't print many of the first volume of Enigma. They had a message in the last chapter saying "If your local store has run out, request it." And running up to its release they said "we recommend you reserve it".

Maybe they printed too many of failures like SWOT and Metallica Metalluca and didn't want to take any chances in this bad economy. Or it could be some weird marketing scheme. If people see that Enigma is "sold out", it might make it more desirable. A relatively high demand and a low supply could make Enigma seem more popular than it actually is. Or I am looking to deeply into it.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

All 3 volumes of Shingeki no Kyojin are still in the top 30! That's amazing! All 3 volumes actually sold more than they did last week... It's selling better than an established series like Bakuman

I can't wait to read more of it, and to see how much more it can sell as it continues to build up its fanbase

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Gantz, what a satisfaction.. Same things for Giant Killing

[Josef]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Hoho, Gantz sales are doing pretty good, very nice, the volume really is different from others, but oh well glad it sold, Naruto also has good sales but nothing compared to th OP when it's volumes come out, interesting to see how this next one does it should be out in February.

[Asarii]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Gantz is doing pretty good for a seinen manga. (Seinen series aren't as mainstream so I'm assuming it's not sold much as those from the younger demographic. Of course I could be wrong.)

I'm pleased that Bloody Monday S2 has made it on in the top five.

[kewl0210]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Gantz is getting pushed a bit by the publicity of the movie. That usually tends to happen. Gantz is one of the most popular seinen manga, and the biggest one in Young Jump.

I read through Shingeki no Kyojin (It's like 17 monthly chapters, not too long). It's somewhat interesting, but I really don't see why it's gotten as popular as it is. I dunno I might translate it if I get bored and have more time.

All three volumes of Shingeki are still in the top ten! Amazing. Definitely deserved, from what I've read it's a great series. The big Jump series finally have some competition again.

I wonder if Shingeki no Kyojin will be new Fullmetal Alchemist.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

From what I understand if you go into a Japanese bookstore it's impossible to avoid Shingeki. Might be to soon to compare it to anything of FMA's stature but the possibility does exist. Not only were initial sales good, not only did the older volumes come back to the top thirty, but sales are remain high weeks after volume 3 came out.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Aha! Three volumes of Gantz in the top 10 good accomplishment, although nothing can beat One Piece when sales come along. The 15th volume of Psyren is doing good, still I wonder why it ended?

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Sadly, Psyren has pretty low sales compared to other Jump series of its length, actually I mean, Mago sells like 500k per volume (total) and it hasn't even reached Psyren's length yet (almost there). Psyren's ranking is quite high this week (and last week) but that's probably just because not many other bigger sellers released the same week.
