Publisher Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings (2009-2015)

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Naruto is fine. Selling almost 750,000 copies in two weeks is amazing. Only One Piece sells better. Naruto is as strong as ever.

[saladesu]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Naruto used to be able to manage a million (or close to it) in 2 weeks... It's still got very respectable sales, but not really "as strong as ever". I wonder why :/ Or do the Japanese dislike the war as much as some netizens do?

[Kaiten]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

For the most part, I remember Naruto taking about a month to sell a million copies. Some of the recent volumes moved faster, but they now seem to be outliers. Averaging a million copies per volume is very impressive, even if it takes a couple of weeks longer. One Piece and KimiTodo are the only other series that average a million copies per volume, if I am not mistaken.

checked through a lot of Oricon Rankings, looks like you're right. Didn't realize that there really are only three manga right now which sell at least 1 million copies. Makes KnT even more awesome, as I can't recall any shoujo manga ever selling this well! (On a sidenote, anyone knows how much the author gain's from the selling? Like how much gain does a mangaka has if he sells a million copies, leaving out the whole merchandising stuff).

Glad and a bit surprised that Ao no Exorcist had quite a boost after the anime was released! Looks like it could become one of the flagship's of SQ, as it was planned by the magazine's staff (if my memories correct).

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Kubo, hear the numbers! Sales lower than 600k+low rankings must mean something. ^_^

Ao no Exorcist reached the current level of sales of D.Gray-man. Nice to see that. Maybe AnE 6 will pass DGM 22 in sales soon.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

567,586 copies in two weeks (June 4th - June 19th) is normal for Bleach and still very impressive.

That would be three actually, started May 30th.
I still think 500k+ is impressive.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

500K is great, but Bleach had 900k before (3 years ago?). And it was getting above 600k after 3 weeks last year. Not this time.

---------- Post added at 07:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:24 PM ----------

After 3 weeks:
Bleach 46 690,978
Bleach 47 636,289
Bleach 48 690,064
Bleach 49 614,822
Bleach 50 567,586

See what i mean?

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

And in one more week, it's gonna sell 20k more, maybe a bit less or a bit more. But it probably won't pass 600k.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

As compared to Enigma, Magico has very good start. But I'm disappointed that Gekka Bijin still didn't make it to chart; I thought vomic would help it.
