Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Unbelievable that One Piece really owns that much

And it's great to see Kimi ni Todoke up there, it's a great feat to be third with a shojo series.

The whole list (Top 50 Manga) on ANN

Wow kimi ni todoke at 3 is surprising. Anyone know where I can find a list of total volume sales?

On 50 titles, 12 are Jump.
Combined, they sold more then 100 million copies in one year and a half.
I'm impressed by the Bakuman, Mago, Kuroko and Medaka performances, the magazine understimates them a lot, lately they basically focus only on Gintama, Toriko, Sket and Beelze.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

I think it's interesting to see that from those 50 mangaka, only 5 are under the age of 30. The only one who's under 25 is Shingeki's author. A pretty awesome feat, looking at the fact that most of the popular mangakas are way older.

Being grouped with all these notable veterans at such a young age is definitely a huge accomplishment for Shingeki's mangaka. He still has a long career ahead of him so hopefully it'll be a bright future for him.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Considering Shingeki has not even had an anime yet, the future should be very bright. With an anime to further promote the manga it could break into the Naruto/KimiTodo tier. I'm glad to see Ao no Exorcist doing well too, it's really come into it's own over the last six months or so.

How many volumes are out? 5? Thats quite a feat

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Close. Volume five comes out on Tuesday. The sales figure above posted only accounts for four volumes.

Is there no ranking this week because of Obon?

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

The DVD ranking came out yesterday, so i believe manga ranking will be released too.
But, in the few times i checked Oricon before, the ranking was out later.

The Oricon ranking will be released at 21:00 GMT

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Oricon sales for this past week are up:
http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/obc/w/2011-08-15/

Very interesting in a few ways.
One, is that One Piece broke the 2.1 million volume mark in its first week, which has never been done before.
Bleach and Naruto I think are around the same they got last volume.
Reborn is on about the same level as Toriko was last month.
Enigma's doing a good deal better than it did with the previous volume. Around 1.5 times more, for its second appearance on the Oricon. Good to see it improving.

.

Well Naruto SEEMS to have sold a lot more:
First Week sales were 538 000
and now are over 700 000
But I don't know how many days those 2 Volumes each had. 1 Day longer on sale could have made the difference

[kewl0210]

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

I think that was a case of the Oricon being taken only a couple days after the release. That is based on May 30-June 5. Shounen Jump comics always come out on the 4th. If you check the following week:
http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/obc/w/2011-06-20/
It sold 750,000 total. This one was out a full week and sold 700,000. So it's about the same.

Re: Weekly Oricon Comic Rankings

Apparently, both volumes had 4 days on the first week (not 100% sure).
Shueisha usually launch batches of volumes in the same day, and there is this note at ANN that says that OP sold those 2 kk in 4 days.
So probably Naruto (and other Shueisha mangas out this week) also had 4 days.

One Piece selling great as usual, Hunter x Hunter with vols 29 and 28. And scrolling down further, March comes in like a lion, an excellent manga, is also doing pretty well.

Hi guys, since I don't know Japanese, can someone post the oricon rankings in Romaji? Of course only the first 30 positions. I'd be very grateful to you. Thanks.
