Togashi tired of Hunter? Not if this most recent arc was any indication... one of the series' best, in a short burst of glory. Didn't read like the product of someone tired with his series, though of course I could be wrong!

Maybe tired out a bit after doing so many chapters in one run. He will likely conclude this arc, and go into hiatus for a bit again. But it's so exciting right now, , so wont even think about it.

hxh wont be ending soon since i remember togashi saying after the ant arc there would be three arcs but i dont know if he counted the alluka and the election arc as a separate or different arc so it could go on for one or two more arcs. but either way hxh is getting ready for its last and final arc.

Do you happen to remember where and when he said that? I can't seem to find him saying that..

Everything I love seems to be ending :scry

Hunter x Hunter having a rushed ending seems like something we should expect. As much as I hate it, he hasn't given us a reason to think anything different with his other series, Yu Yu Hakusho especially.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I think some people are still might be a bit confused about Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa.

Basically, the same thing that happened to Anedoki is currently happening to Harisugawa. Anedoki ended on chapter 25 and was given a 3 page chapter called "epilogue" or chapter 26, that took place after the events of chapter 25.

This week was the last actual chapter of Harisugawa!

The final chapter of Anedoki was called epilogue. The end of this weeks Harisugawa said END, but said that next Issue will be a epilogue. Meaning it will take place after the current events of the manga. It will also probably be 3-5 pages, making it more of an Omake than an actual chapter.

This also means another series (ST&RS or Pakki) could possibly be cancelled next week.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was also mentioned in this weeks Bleach Rebeat&Reboot, that it took Kubo more than 5 years to plan the upcoming arc.

Erm, not really.

Ane-Doki Chapter 26 was the final chapter, with 19 pages as usual. And then the tanko had a little epilogue for a few pages, but it was specially drawn, and it wasn't featured in the magazine.

Also, when it was in WSJ, it didn't mention anything about an epilogue in the next issue.

Please try to confirm your information before attempting to clarify the situation.

EDIT: Actually, it was 21 pages, so more pages than usual.

HxH is at one of its highest peak now, so I can't really imagine it going to hiatus soon.
Togashi seems to be putting so much life into his work.

Don't blame me kubo but I'm not anticipating you to be awesome, just make sure you don't mess things up and get cut off before ever reaching the
end of the arc. But I'll look forward to it because Bleach is still enjoyable to me.
And final arc= likely more than 5 years.

Just a loose connected question to the thread, but can KANO Yasuhiro really live with the money he mad through these 2~3 Volumes? I mean i wasn't writing a series before kagami for a long time, besides he needed assistenz for it as well and i can't see how some sold books every 2 years can keep him enough money to live with it.

I thought the authors have a stipend for assistant salaries... At least that's what I remembered from Bakuman.
As for whether he can live on his tanko sales or not...

Let's assume the followings:
1. Kanou's royalty is at 10% (Could be more)
2. Each volume ends up having a total of 150k printed copies. (Maybe fewer, but meh)
3. Shueisha pays the authors' royalties by total copies printed instead of total copies sold.

With each tanko selling at 420 yen, he would've made:
420 * 0.1 * 150k = 6.3 million yen
Roughly 80k USD or 60k Euro.

3 Volumes would be 240k USD or 180k Euro

(Note, this makes a lot of assumptions)

Not spectacularly impressive, but decent nonetheless.

...Oda must be even more wealthy than I thought.

Oda is really rich. I bet even he suddenly stops One Piece, he doesn't have to worry on living.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Greg from OP Podcast posted this a while ago:

Interesting program on TV attempted to break down Oda’s salary. They admit it’s NOT 100% concrete but they attempted to be as accurate as possible. They brought in three guests to help deal with the calculations, all of them big-time former... editors:

Nobuhiko Horie- Former editor of City Hunter and former editor-in-chief of Weekly Shonen JUMP

Pak Chon-Hyong- Former editor of GTO @ Shonen Magazine

Ryunosuke Ito- Former editor of Psychometrer Eiji @ Young Magazine

First they looked at the fields authors get their money from:
(keep in mind these values are ROUGHLY in dollars)

-Original Work
They suggested a manga author typically can make $100 per page and can move up from there with experience. Two of the panel suggested Oda is currently paid $500 per page, the other suggested $300. They went with $500. and decided to calculate 500 by 20 pages by 48 chapters per year. This works out to roughly $480,000

(If I was doing it I probably would have calculated at 19 pages given Oda’s current work.)

-Printing Tax

This is the figure for tanks. Authors receive approximately 10% of sales. That roughly $4.20 times 32,340,000 tanks sold last year (!!!) times 10%. Roughly $13,582,800.

@_@

-Use of Properties

This is for the anime and movie(s) whenever they’re aired or shown. The author is estimated to get about $3,000 per episode $10,000 per movie. With 50 anime episodes per year and one film that’s $160,000

-Foreign Use

Basically what he gets from overseas sales. They estimate it at $2,000,000.

-Use of Characters

Essentially what he receives for the use of characters for merchandise and DVD sales. They estimated $15,000,000.

Add it all up?

$31,222,800
