Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Add it all up?

$31,222,800
and that every year, since 5-10 years ago. i wonder why he doesn't slow down, maybe he really loves to write manga. BUT looking at the oppisit chart, sometimes there stands something about 10% and so on, how much money jump generates for them. i bet they print one piece on money instead of paper, because they got more of that than paper...

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Here are the main points from the Bleach Interview's that have taken place in the past 3 weeks, so that the people who don't visit the Bleach forums can see what has been happening and maybe even rekindle some interesting in people who have lost interest in Bleach.

Vol.1 - Birth
- Soi Fon's left arm has been restored
- Genryusai's arm is still gone
- Unohana will unveil her braid and release her Zankpakuto
- Rose is the new captain for Squad 3

Vol.2 - Stage

- The concept for the new location is like a Palace of Ice
- It is not located in Soul Society or Karakura Town, but it is unexpectedly close and underground
- Possible chance of Espada reappearing. If one happens to appear though, many will follow
- Kyoraku will go Bankai and we will find out the history of his pink haori
- Shinji is the new captain for Squad 5
- Kensei is the new captain for Squad 9
- Possibility of relationship developement between Hinamori and Shinji
- Renji's Bankai has been perfected and its form has changed
- Nell is most likely going to appear

Vol.3 - Restart
- Kubo has been planning this arc since the end of the Soul Society Arc
- The upcoming Arc will be the Final Arc
- The next Arc will take place soon/directly after the Lost Shinigami Arc
- The foundation for the next Arc will be about certain "bodies" that Mayuri researched about in the past
- Rangiku's Past will play a key part in the story
- Hitsugaya's Bankai has been perfected
- Some Vice-Captains possibly obtaining Bankai. Yumichika is a good choice. Izuru's Bankai would be really gross
- Possibility of a flashback of when Kenpachi became Captain (Possibility low)
- Mayuri now looks like a Witch Doctor/Shaman
- Flashback of how Rukia felt when she was offered the position of Vice-Captain for Squad 13
- The mystery of Ichigo's Birth
- The meaning of the "True Blood" that Grand Fisher mentioned
- The relationship between Isshin & Ryuuken and the thing they seem to be hiding
- The secret of why Ichigo and Kaien look so similar
- The truth behind the death of Ichigo's mother
- Kon will be reappearing
- Hiyori's life and the other Vizard
- Hollows are being destroyed by someone/something
- Possibility of Aizen reappearing but in restraints
- Possibility of flashback of how Yoruichi and Urahara met over 100 years ago
- Zero Squad will be appearing
- The Soul King
- An event will happen that will leave Seireitei in ruin
- The enemies are small in numbers but increase over time
- Kubo laughs and hints at the end of the interview that the Shinigami could possibly know who the new enemies are

The people at Bleach Asylum did a really good job if you want to check out the full scans of these >HERE<

Some of the lines they translated are a little awkward because it went from JAP>CHI>ENG. And a there was one or so times where a little bit of information was sometimes not added, but it wasn't extremely important stuff.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

HxH is at one of its highest peak now, so I can't really imagine it going to hiatus soon.
Togashi seems to be putting so much life into his work.
I agree with, on the other hand I wouldn't completely deny the possibility of it to end soon. It's not like Togashi never ended a manga relatively sudden and very rushed.

It goes without saying that it would be very disappointing to see it end now though.

Don't blame me kubo but I'm not anticipating you to be awesome, just make sure you don't mess things up and get cut off before ever reaching the
end of the arc. But I'll look forward to it because Bleach is still enjoyable to me.
And final arc= likely more than 5 years.
I see it the same way, the story will most likely hold on for another 5 years (knowing Kubo's pace). The infos from the interview made me quite hyped but I better not expect anything, that way I will be positively surprised if it's really good and not disappointed if it's kinda lame again.

Oda really really reallly likes drawing good manga. I've read that it's his new year's resolution every year (to draw a good manga), and that it's what he does when he's working (drawing good manga), resting (drawing good manga), or whenever he's bored (drawing good manga). During the timeskip, afaik, Oda wanted to take a break for only 2 weeks, and Jump wanted to give him 3 months. Since he likes haggling with his editor, we ended up with a 1 month break. I don't think he can stand not drawing manga for too long.

In Color Walk 2, he mentioned in his interview (w/ one of the Fujiko Fujio's) that he's worried if it's okay that a grown man just enjoys himself all the time since he doesn't actually feel like he's working. I think it's pretty hard to find someone who likes manga as much as Oda.

and if i raked as much money as oda, i wouldn't mind not slowing down either. doing something you love + earning millions for it = best job ever.

HunterxHunter is far from finished. It is most likely going to be on a roll for 1 more year without hiatus.

Yeah, Hunter x Hunter is probably at its peak right now (who thought it still had life left in it after all of these years?). I doubt WSJ would let Togashi go on hiatus or end the series at this point. Besides, 29 volumes is relatively short in WSJ standards. And it hasn't outlived its welcome yet like Bleach.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Komi Naoshi (Nisekoi's Author) wrote in the Issue #10 Author comment page that he has caught Norovirus.

I wasn't sure what exactly Norovirus was so I looked it up..

Gastroenteritis caused by norovirus usually starts suddenly and causes vomiting and watery diarrhoea. Vomiting can be frequent and is more common among children. People may also have nausea, fever, stomach pains, headache and muscle aches. People, particularly young children and the elderly, can become dehydrated. Symptoms usually begin between 24 and 48 hours after exposure to the virus and can last for one or two days.

Komi Naoshi also mentioned last week he had a flu and was unable to attend the New Years Party.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I'm pretty sure Togashi already had his share of cash, according to wiki (most reliable source ever...) YYH sold 49 million copies in Japan alone!
Using the normal formula of Volumes sold x 40 Yen (10% of the 400 Yen YYH volumes should have costed back on the 90s) Togashi raked 1,960,000,000 Yen which equals around $19,600,000 which should be enough to satisfy his needs (Unless he is a crazy spender) so I think Togashi does like to make good and interesting manga, just that he gets lazy in the proccess.

That how much the series with lead color page usually gets.

i really like kubo's style in a artistic way. he use often cool angle and character poses. how he writes down the chapter name in each chapter is quite originaly and great. i think it's not a underestimate that he is a great artist, but his writing ability can't keep up.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post 2ch rankings of WSJ mangas but I've seen some other members post them before, for example: here, so I'll just follow suit. If someone thinks they're superfluous, feel free to report or delete them:

(Parentheses 1): total points;
(Parentheses 2): total votes received;
(Parentheses 3): overall average point, equalling Total points/Total voters;
(Parentheses 4): average point among the people who voted, equalling Total points/Total votes received.

Issue 8, total voters: 54

Issue 9, total voters: 48

No wonder that HxH is #1, but it's pretty amazing to have the edge with over one more point per voter.

Don't forget that he is married to the mangaka of Sailor Moon.

Radio-Kon Hyper!? So he will have to stay being a lesser support character or have his own omages? Just two more days to wait...

so I guess Nisekoi is quite popular?
I was feeling it's a bit weak on lot of parts but seems like its doing fine.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

It's still a bit to meandering and episodic but otherwise quite charming. The characters are likable, the story is funny, and both female leads make worthy romantic interests. It seems to be polling well though it is still early. I hope it does have a nice run, it's a fun series even if it could use a bit more cohesion.
