Jump has been like this since the beginning so its not gonna change.
If the manga isn't made by a veteran author (i.e. Dragon Ball being after Dr. Slump), its uber-duper-super popular since the beginning (i.e. ONE PIECE) or it gets an anime adaptation (i.e. any manga with an anime adaptation, but a recent example HXH getting both a CP and Cover for its anime adaptations) chances are it will only get a cover on its anniversary and even then it might not get it.

And it started relatively around the same time Bakuman debuted also, I believe.
No it's not. Bakuman started on Issue 37/38 of 2008 and Kuroko started on Issue 2 of 2009. There is one more new series line-up between Bakuman and Kuroko.

Or their manga.:)

Is it fanservice, if loved characters finally return after 3/4 of a year full of punny humans with superpowers, only to vanish within one respective chapter? Seems like Oda got the right amount of FS and plot in his manga to turn up at the top so many times.

Why do you bring Oda up? OP is a completely different manga, both in style and tone. I'm just saying that kids don't give a damn about plot. They just want to see the Shinigami. Which is a shame.

It's also because of the fanservice that dumb, childish stuff like Harisugawa is on top while fresh, well drawn, entertaining and original stuff like St&rs or Enigma is going to get cancelled.

Again, Jump is Jump. Good thing that we've got Shonen Ace as well :)

Unless I'm mistaken, it was actually chapter 458 that was ranked this week. So it's the plot and the readers liked the revelation of Ginjo being a villain rather than fanservice voting. Also Bleach has been steadily rising the last weeks, that's all about the plot finally moving forward and zero shinigami.

If it's of any comfort, Bleach would have very likely been 3rd this week had it not been for OP being absent. As for Naruto who knows, those chapters were beast so I don't doubt that OP would have been 2nd.

If I'm not mistaken, Naruto got number 1 for that chapter where Nagato and Itachi fought (a pretty anticlimatic battle). That is NOT fanservice.

Bleach would probably have gotten third had OP been there. But if what you're saying is true, Rukia's chapter should skyrocket Bleach's ranking.

Anyway, I must apologize; I always forget that almost everybody bashes Bleach here. My most sincere apologies :)

Naruto is doing well at the moment. But I think that even after the shinigamii appearance, BLEACH didn't recover as much as they hoped. The fights look very easy and all those troubles they had in the previous chapters look worthless now... OP absence would really help BLEACH look good.

How's Bleach being 2nd a cause of discomfort? It's a pretty good manga.

i agree 100%, you have to realize that the majority of jump readers are pre-early teen and not 20 year old+ people looking for a interesting plot.
Look at ichigo 100%, complete shit of a story but it lasted 19 volumes due to fan service and pretty good art. Fanservice, battles, friendship and well drawn series are the one to last.

Also, to add in on KHR:
I don't understand how people are thinking khr will end after this arc. Everyone thought Bleach would end once Aizen was beaten and Oda found someway to keep it going(whether we agree or disagree with his idiotic tactics). It's not like khr is doing badly nor is it unpopular, if they wanted to end it they would have already. From what i see i don't think Amano is getting pressured to end it, especially since the turn over rate for new series are so high as of late. So what's the point of ending a fairly popular manga with average ratings for a hit or miss new series they'll prob end up being canceled in 20 weeks?

Bleach was an awesome manga. I think the fact that it was dragged more than necessary made people act like this towards every chapter no matter what it contains. But I wouldn't call that bashing :) at least people here in MH give the reason behind negative comments. (try and look somewhere else and you'll see Bashing's hollowed form).

It's called Shounen for a reason[your aren't the target audience], no need to talk bad about it, especially since the percentage of adults reading it has risen immensely this year. Everyone has his preferences. I like Yasuhiro Kano since Pretty Face, if you don't like ecchi stuff just say so!-_- It's the only one in WSJ with a dozen of action manga, stop to bash and being biased. WSJ without a harem/romance/ecchi manga isn't a true WSJ Imo. There are enough Seinen, Josei, Shojo and even Shounen[boy] magazines with their own series out there for more serious topics if that's not good enough for you.

Because 2 > 3. lol :D

P.S.: I like and read Bleach since '03, don't try to turn that against me.

IDK... this arc doesn't really make any sense. realistically speaking why would tsukishima and go through all that trouble when he could of used his book of end to make ichigo do it freely than chance him to rebel like he did? kinda felt rushed and forced to just make the story go on when it didn't need to.

Just because it's written for kids doesn't absolve it from being poorly plotted. There are plenty of shonen action manga which pull it off rather well. We all have our opinions, but some opinions are stronger because they're enforced with actual evidence. I won't go further because this isn't a bleach thread, but people seem to be fatigued with what's going on in bleach for a long while now.

Wrong. That chapter was when Nagato & Itachi was still fighting and the chapter where Itachi activates his "gift" to Naruto (which ended on a cliffhanger note)

And Mirror World is not all about fanservice, it's the way Yasuhiro executes his RomCom aspect of it that makes it a refreshing read.

Mirror World shares in common many traits with successful romcoms and it does so consistently and without really any obvious cons. I never got why people denied it any praise.

My guess is that fans of ST&RS are just butthurt at the fact that such a "low quality" manga is beating it out on rankings. I was the first one to guess that ST&RS would have big crash landing and that Mirror would beat it and last longer.

That's true, I apologize. That chapter was pretty good, much better than the one that follows. Totally deserving of #1.

The thing about Harisugawa is that it has the entire Romcom fanbase to itself. But you can't compare to great series such as Ichigo 100% or Love Hina. To me, it's enjoyable but dumb. Pretty much like To Love-ru. St&rs was refreshing and a good read, but I can see why it bombed. It was not suited for Jump.

Whatever happened to Kawashita-sensei anyway? Is she not coming back?

You can go here [Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa by Kano Yasuhiro] if you are ready to defend your unfounded arguments against the followers. How is it dumb, it's better than the cliche of normal high school with a harem to choose from, at least he tries to add something supernatural into his manga.

Ane Doki failed, that's what happened, it got an early end; Boku no Idol didn't get turned into a full Manga and that's why he's on Jump SQ now, writing/drawing G-Maru Edition.

As you can see from To-Love Ru, ecchi isn't that well recieved anymore on WSJ, probably because it's the kids that vote and the parents that send those mails and see what their kids are voting for, thus they don't dare to vote for them. Could be the reason for ST&RS too Imo, the audience is partly 18+ too and those may not vote for the series out of all available reasons. Or kids simply prefer action/comedy. lol

Edit: I don't follow Bakuman right now, got stuck after chap 27.

I get your point man, but it won't be me who enters a forum full of fans of something to bash that something. I'm not gonna trample on something a lot of people love. Harisugawa is not bad; but it belongs on the middle of the magazine, not on top. The characters are acting all comedy-like on a pretty dre situation. My complaint is that they don't act like normal people. Normal people would freak out at the prospect of being stuck in a mirror... and the characters don't seem to be looking for a solution either. I mean, the main guy is on a life-or-death situation and seems to be pretty cool with it :D Compared to brilliant stuff like Ichigo, this is a little childish, that's all. Again, it's not bad, it's original (so is St&rs btw) and I understand why people like it. But I hope we get a new Romcom soon.

Agreed with the ecchi stuff, TLR was too much. There was this argument in Bakuman about how people didn't vote for it even though they wanted to out of shame.

I honestly don't want to turn this into a Harisugawa discussion, but I feel the need to correct you. First, Harisugawa DID freak out when learned he was stuck in the mirror. And the characters are making an effort to solve the situation. The only problem is, there's a lot of confusion between the characters making the plot a whole lot more complicated. I think you need to reread it again before you make any comments regarding Harisugawa's plot.

I think most of the reason why Harisugawa is in the top 5 is because it executes the RomCom genre in a refreshing way compared to most of the same genre out there.
