sure, you're right. But they're a relatively huge team in the editorial room of WSJ, I think they can manage something like that without a problem + they're experienced and a lot of them are working there since...well, a few years.

And of course everyone can choose in what to believe in, if it was a Shueisha insider or not...I think at this point it doesn't really matter, it's great enough that we get the TOC/Covers/Chapters every week, of course, details about the rankings would be great, but personally I'm more than happy with how it's now.

It's by the chapter. They need to give readers time to send in the postcards. Since voting is weighted in favor of Jumps target demographic, postcards need to be sorted by age and gender. Than they need time to count votes. The editors need time to meet and discuss the results. Then they need time to discuss the results with all of the mangaka. One can assume editors and mangaka have tight schedules, so meetings can't necessarily be scheduled immediately. Then votes need to be counted again, to check for accuracy. After that, the editors need to meet again to build the TOC. They need to discuss any new manga submitted, determine what would be easiest to replace, the status of each mangaka, what manga the editors actually like, etc. The editors also have other business to attend to over this whole time. So a window of 8 issues is given, so that everyone involved - from the printer to the editors - can maintain a schedule.

Personally, i've always found the 8 week system flawed. If a series get's color or takes a break, it screws up 2 weeks of ToC just like that for the week of and then 8 weeks later. Also it seems odd they are taking data from 2 months ago, they can see how much a volume sells within 2 weeks. Lastly, if series were following 8 weeks ago, a series that ends; is two months behind on rankings. What if it got better in that time? So this is why personally I never cared for the 8 week ranking system. Trusting some iffy info on 2ch just doesnt do it for me, cause ive heard lots of great things on the net like Elvis is still alive and kickin

If it gets color we don't see that week's ranking but the editors still have it....so far the system is not that flawed from what we know. All it means is we don't always get to see the ranking for some series.

That's actually a false rumor. Togashi does indeed have assistants.

Well, I doubt he has any permanent assistants. He probably hires some random assistants for a couple of weeks whenever he feels like doing his job.

Late to the party, but Togashi is indeed known for having done Level E without assistants. Or maybe is that the rumour you were talking about? Afaik there were assistants working on all of his other series, though, HxH included. He probably does what Jaymie says ^ for this series, work contracts for assistants must be pretty flexible.

That aside, this is probably one of my fav op jump cover yet just because of those faces on the ice cream scoops.
Can't wait for the toc for this week's issue.

Pretty nice cover in my opinion. Of course it's weird that Luffy is going to lick/eat his comrade, but the creativity of the cover makes up for that. Usopp's nose is pretty nice x)

I love that cover! So creative The Sanji scoop looks funny It is weird he's eating his nakama, but hey, I would pay to buy an ice-cream cone with all those Strawhat scoops, of course with Luffy on the top and his straw hat on his "head"

Bleach is out of the top half again. The people have spoken Kubo, they want moar bankais. Is Ikkyuu still un-ranked? I can't remember how many chapters are out. The first two chapters were solid, I am rooting for it. Factor out Bakuman's color page and it is in the top five. Placed or not, that is a very good sign. Nice to see some of Jumps better manga high; good for Toriko, Naruto, Gintama, and Sket Dance.

Nice, Toriko's #1 again Which then begs the question - had OP not been unranked due to that cover/lead CP, would it have once again been beaten by Toriko for a second week running (ignoring last week as OP was absent)?

Gintama ranking highly again is nice to see, too Can't say much else as the rest of the TOC is not available (wish this guy would take the extra few moments to type the rest of it I almost wish Medaka were lower ranked just so more of the TOC would be posted ) and the other series I read have CPs and thus are not ranked.

I think if Medaka were lower, this person wouldn't be posting it at all. They're posting it to point out that Medaka is doing good suddenly while it's generally really low.
This TOC looks to be largely the same as last week. Magico still doing really well as a new series.

It's less a theory, more of a pattern some of us have noticed. Most new series are stuck in the middle of the magazine, near the center color. It's really rare for an unranked new series to be placed in the top or bottom five. When the former happens the series always seems to survive, the latter always results in less than fifteen chapters. I am always a bit skeptical of early TOC's, but if it is accurate it is a very good sign that Ikkyu will survive.

I think that the Medaka spoiler-provider just likes it's sudden improvement, but I guess that anyone who wants to show off would do that.

And I don't get why people want to see OP's proper rank compared to Toriko...I'm just happy it has a cover page regardless.
