wasn't that the purpose of drump since the beginning? its obvious the try to create a yu-gi-oh 2.0 and make a lot of money through merchandise. its probably one of the biggest franchises that jump had with all those animes.

If Shueisha really wants to make Drump as their next big franchise, then they should start either manga or animation for Drump, just one shot is not enough.

Hopefully a full series is started right after the new year (is that ever even been done before).

But, the question is whether Takahashi is willing to work weekly series. Along with Toriyama, there is basically nothing for Takahashi to motivate to serialize another series.

If he actually planned Drump to serialize, then I think it should be by different illustrator and going to serialize under V Jump, not Shounen Jump.

And maybe a Drump GX spinoff the year after.

Oda get alot of money from royality!

Which one do you guys think has more damage? Shueisha losts Isayama to Kodansha? Or Kodansha losts Takahashi to Shueisha?

I don't get it. Hajime Isayama the writer of "Attack on Titan" is definetely a huge lost in short business terms. Yes, he is popular and extreme successfull, but who knows for how long. He said himself that the series won't reach more volumes than 20, which means its already over 50%. He may finish is even before.

Rumiko Takahashi, creator of Ranma is also a huge seller if you consider her past works. But she also works for Kodonasha, Sunday magazine. None of them is working for Shueisha.

I'm not talking about Takahashi Rumiko; I'm talking about Takahashi Kazuki (author of Yu-Gi-Oh). Takahashi Kazuki's first serialization is Shounen Magazine (Kodansha), then he moved to Shueisha and serialized Yu-Gi-Oh.

I don't think either "losses" are something to be proud of. But both were/are huge in their own right.

Well, I'm just got curious what others think about it since we're having discussion about Takahashi.

It depends on how the others look at their successes. Shingeki no Kyojin has really huge tank sales, but Yu-Gi-Oh has really huge franchise. Then, which one is more bigger success? Tank sales or franchise?
There's no way to say without actual numbers. I'm not sure what kind of deal they had with Konami, but the TCG was huge for the series and Shueisha, even on an international basis. SnK most likely has the level of merchandising a super-popular series would, but TCG and VG are a different level.

That's not even taking the anime into account really. Yugioh was internationally popular, SnK has been licensed, but I doubt it'll have the same audience internationally that Yugioh had. But that can be said about the overwhelming majority of "popular" series that get licensed nowadays. Stuff like Pokemon or Yugioh are an entirely different animal.

It's honestly kind of entirely incomparable. Yugioh was a massive worldwide success (mainly due to it's card-game, and got worldwide success due to being brought to western markers in the big anime boom of the late 90's/early 2000's) but at the same time Takahashi hasn't really done anything else other than Yugioh. Isayama however has some pretty decent popularity in Japan, and for a manga/anime post western anime-boom is doing pretty well in Western markets as well, Isayama also will probably work on more series after SnK is over with. The two are both incomparable due to being in different genres, and why and when they rose to popularity and several other factors as well. It's really just kind of a dumb question.

Takahashi Rumiko is associated with Shogakukan, not Kodansha.

SnK s popular, but Yugioh is in other level, it is a franchise right now, not just a series. Yugioh was series of genious, there is no other better way to make money for the eternity like Yugioh did. In fact, there is no reason to Takahashi make a new series weekly, he gain millions with Yugioh yet.

I heard that he made enough money to feed 7 generations (I just heard, so I'm not sure if it is real or not).

Yeah, like Toriyama, there really isn't any reason for him to do new series; its only matter of his motivation. If he really wanted Drump to be famous, then I think he will serialize Drump.

So out of all past serialized mangaka's with that aren't currently in the magazine, who would you guys like most to see serialized again? I personally really want a new Toshiaki Iwashiro series.

Also, while Mutou Black was the opposite of popular I personally really liked Mutou Black and really want to see Daijiro Nonoue back as well.
