And no one thinks that Naruto was "serious" because of that, right? Btw, in the first arcs, Zabuza was a real threat. Orochimaru too. The kids went through several moments of fear. I miss this "fear" in WT.

Well, this 'fear' existed several times in WT already. Just the Invasion arc had several of those instances:
-The first appearances of the Rabbits. Their entry in the battle was threatening and their smiles were menacing.
-Though, Enedora was a douche, he was a very dark villain. Defeated one of the stronger teams and rampaged in the Border base.
-The whole finale part of the ' X seconds till the crossroads of fate' with Hyrein. There was on 4Chan even a thread for this whole thing dedicated, because many were hooked by this.

I think, it's just 'more' difficult for WT(or just newer manga in general) to create such feelings, if you read enough other manga. For example, the last chapter of My Hero Academia presented one very terrifying scene with Deku & the villain Shigaraki-
Except if you read enough shonen, because then you know, Deku will not die(he is the maincharacter after all).

So basically, a few parts of the invasion arc had a sense of urgency where someone could actually get hurt and/or abducted.
