true, most shonen battle manga follow a formula

but not to this "copy-paste" extent

Well, the images are not even in order, so...

Neat, wonder what else Viz might add to their SJ lineup.
Still hoping they might add some of the tamer Young Jump series eventually.
If they can run Hunter x Hunter, they can run Kingdom, Tokyo Ghoul:RE, and Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
Don't know about Kingdom, but TG has some pretty fuck up shit. Not in a million years they could publish it under the SJ lineup.

Galactic Heroes might work since I don't know how mild is the manga.

Kingdom isn't even licensed so i doubt that has a chance.
If Black Clover was the only one that followed those tropes, it would have been nice.
Astra wasn't licensed before either, they can just add new series if they want. It still doesn't really have a chance because of how long it is, but licensing shouldn't be an issue.

shamelessly stolen from reddit but this is too good

I really want somebody to make a new gif of this and replace the character faces with Black Clover characters.

After Vinland Saga unperformed, the likelihood of another publisher attempting to do another historical fiction title is unlikely. The other two are plausible, but 43 volumes in, it's very unlikely for Kingdom.

Yowamushi Pedal was given a chance with Yen Press, but only due to a new surge of interest in the sports genre. If there is an interest in historical fiction titles, it is not showing in US sales.

I think the right series just needs to be presented.
Kingdom feels almost like a shonen battle manga, despite it being a seinen war series.
The fast pacing and over the top style is what Americans like.
Vinland Saga was too slow paced and well written for American otakus.

It's really unfortunate Vinland Saga failed here, I thought they did well to market it as a premiere title.

Got Giga in today! I'll jump into it in a bit. Love the Film Gold cutout.

American audiences want to see the anime first before buying any manga.
some example:
Attack on Titan Vol 1
One Punch Man first volume was release Sep 1st, first episode aired on October 5, 2015. Now several volumes dominates the chart.
TG is influence from other people who buy it and make a video about it on Youtube, plus the anime helps western audiences. Words of mouth help it stabilize.
Kingdom has 43 volumes so i highly doubt Viz will give it a chance.

That's also a problem.
Americans don't like to read.
They just like flashiness and tuning out.
I don't know how many people I know who claim to be huge fans of the industry, but outright refuse to read any manga.

Perhaps, but still consider that it's 43 volumes in already.
And it already had an anime with 77 episodes in total that still don't have the US fans really clamoring for it.

If volume 40 really was the halfway point, it has a lot working against it. Consider how long it would take Viz to even catch up. They do monthly releases only in the most special circumstances. If they started monthly releases tomorrow, it would take around 4-5 years to catch up to Japan. A huge commitment.

Law of diminishing returns, my friend.

What if Sahara got really popular, would they keep it in Giga or switch it to WSJ

Haven't seen many cases of series moving to WSJ.

If they made a anime of Vinland Saga covering the first arc that was very action packed, it would probably sell decently instead of just enough to be worth printing...(talking about US here)

And that's the thing for Kingdom, 77 episodes of anime came out for it already and people haven't gone begging Viz to publish the series.

I've heard that Yukimura really wasn't happy with the Planetes adaptation and thus refuses to let Vinland Saga get an animation.
Don't have a source for that, though.

I got my amazon japan order today (finally have caught up on My Hero Academia and got the last volume of Night King). Jump Giga, has like, 3 to 4 good series. Hana Samurai no Sahara, Kaijuu no Buki Shokunin, Ao no Rettou, and Shinigiwa. Also, Garbage World should have been a series. You know it's almost impossible to believe that Shinigiwa was done by the Devilry Man mangaka. His art has greatly improved. Ginatashiki looks like an ok sports manga about spear kendo, or whatever it's called.

Now, I'm just basing what I'm saying off the art, and what I gather the story is going to be about. I wish my knowledge of Japanese was more advanced.

I doubt I'm going to buy the next issue of Jump Giga. I'm probably just gonna pick up the volumes of Sahara of the Flower Samurai and Kaijuu Arms Dealer. Jump Giga just really isn't worth the cost since Viz is probably going to pick up My Hero Academia: Illegals.

After flipping through, I don't see how they can say that they are setting these up to just be miniseries.

Well I hope Sahara of the Flower Samurai and Kaijuu Arms Dealer find success among the Japanese readers because I really liked those.

This is just my opinion BTW...
I don't see what's so good about Sahara of the Flower Samurai. For me, it's quite basic and generic. Not as bad as BC of course, but still...
MC helping a boy in distress. Behold, the boy was actually a girl! Suddenly meet a bad guy who act like "I'm doing this because I'm a bad guy. Fear me~~!". The girl again put in despair, this time by the bad guy. MC save the day with his super-crazy-big-flashy-strong power! Then at the end they decided to travel together?! Next chapter: The girl get in trouble again! What will MC do?! -lol-
I'm not trying to condemn this manga or anything, but it just same old same old story with a same formula. IMO, this manga doesn't bring anything new to the table. What most interesting for me just its world - a world which vegetation are super rare. But the story not gripping enough. Will read the next chapter. But for now, I'm still don't understand the hype behind it...
