It is a pity for Obata, I rely on him because he is who he is, but now I think that it was not a good idea start a series with a newbie... The series commited the same mistakes that many cancelled series commited. There is still time to recover as I said, although my hopes are not high. Now that it reached the dead last, maybe the series doesn't have readers enough to make a come back even if the chapters are good.

I was thinking that maybe Gakkyuu Houtei was meant to be a short series. Given the fact that it seems Jump would be reluctant to give up their guarenteed hit combo of Obata and Ooba. But I dunno really.

Jokes aparts, yeah, the plot and world doesn't seem much expandible. Inugami objective is already clear and such... It could be last one year at max...

Imo the whole classroom massacre + guantanamo middle school is way too much.
The whole concept is dumb enough to begin with. It's fun to read when the cases are simple things that little kids are going to get confronted with, but in GH's case it takes itself way too seriously for its own good.

I was really surprised for a moment seeing Boku no Hero Academia position, but then I remembered that it's getting color page. Alright although it's still low for such famous series...

Last week AssClass CP was in position 7. I think it's normal.

By the way, Hero will win two CPs in a row? Shonen Jump will not let this chance slip away lol. A lot of pressure over the author. The good thing is that he said he plans to have fun this time. It seems to be a series that he always wanted to do. So it's a relief.

I know many will disagree with me, but I think without Obata, GH wouldn't even be noticed. The cases aren't bad, but they're silly. I can't care too much about them. And I also don't care about the characters who are accused, so... If it was a more "teenager" universe, or if trying to be more substantial and less "epic", perhaps the series had more freedom.

It has to become more serious, so far it was just a playground, do you really think that it was serious so far?
The mystery of Inugami's past was what made me read until here. So far the series was too childish for the Jump audience.

Not that normal. It is just because there is a new series CP that has to be in a high position. I have seen AC and BnHA CPs inside top 5, like in issue 11 for example.

It got two CPs in a row not so long ago. Probably not, but it is still lighter than what Magazine does with its poor authors.

SharkBait, it looks like you've developed what we used to call the "Koen Effect" a few years ago Don't fret, most series in Jump I like are cancelled brutally before five volumes too.

But yeah, Obata just has no luck without Ohba. Hikaru no Go is the one exception and that was before they teamed up.

I actually agree with you on GH, to be honest, I wouldn't have started the series if Obata hadn't been drawing it.

So far I've only read Black Clover and Kagamigami. I like Black Clover more than Kagamigami but for me the problem I have with Black Clover is that it's like MHA or even Naruto but with wizards. I mean:

> Wants to become Wizard King (like Iziku wants to become best hero; Naruto wanted to become Hokage)
> goes to an exam to enter magic squads or something
> fails exam
> in the end enters squad because his non-ability to save magic is interesting

That's what happened so far. Though Black Clover has one strong point and it's that it's been really enjoyable so far.
Kagamigami is pretty interesting too though I still can't get over ch2 and the author overuses comedy in my opinion...
As for Roggy and UBS, I looked at the raws, saw nothing that interested me so I won't be reading them. I found the art pretty boring for those two series.

This is not the first time it happens... Between Death Note and Bakuman, Obata paired with a newbie writer to make Blue Dragon Ral Grad, which flopped and was cancelled with 4 volumes. Even though it's still early to be sure, Gakkyu Houtei seems to be on the way to the same fate.

Success with Ohba > Failture with newbie > Success with Ohba
Obata will realize that he cannot do anything without Ohba.
