Gangsta and Black Joke have mafia elements, although IMO Black Joke setting and plot are more mafia oriented than Gangsta.

There's also Ad Astra. It's about the Secomd Punic War, between Hannibal and Rome.

On the other hand, there's also Historie, but this time it follows the campaigns of a greek general, Eumenes, I think.

I agree, way too many mafia and westerns and far too few high school series. Maybe Jump should pick up an exorcism manga too!

Are we talking about series not in Shonen Jump? Because then it's easier to name a few that wasn't mentioned: Thermae Romane (baths), Toujuushi (beast and gladiators), Cestus (boxing). Agrippa (gauls) too, but it ran in SQ.

And for western there is even more, but the first one that comes to mind is Green Blood, quite enjoyed that one.

But talking about non-jump series, even non-shueisha series, feels a quite off topic.

Saint Seiya is a blend of ancient Greek stuff put in modern times, that's probably the closest WSJ has gotten to it.

I can't believe I missed the post about Nisekoi getting a live-action movie! I'm glad that there's still some life in the franchise. I hope the movie does really well

I have the theory in 3-4 weeks we could have announcement of end of Shokugeki manga. If that happens, series from this round should be safe for now. I think. Jujutsu and Ziga are screaming for axe fooder, so who knows.
