Waiting for the next MHA or Neverland is a little bit problematic since these kinds of series seem to rarely come by, so they might have to wait for a very long time.

We do keep hearing that Kishimoto will return but who knows when his knew manga will show up and in what magazine it will show up. Who knows if he will actually come back at all, he can change his mind at any time if he wants to.

The new oneshots from all these various veterans haven't been the most impressive either.

I wouldn't mind a newbie making a new hit manga, the sooner we have another new hit the better it will be for everyone.

I don't think they necessarily need a huge series but just something that doesn't have a mediocre first 3 chapters. Also unless they know something waiting for Kisimoto would be really dumb considering there's zero indication he's starting the new series any time soon and even when he does what if it's monthly or even quarterly?

Kishi will be back this year, I trust him and his mind. 95% of Naruto was perfect so I'm confident he'll make something interesting and save the industry.

As someone said before, I feel like we get a big series every 2ish years or so. We’ll probably get a series that has hype right out of the gate eventually.

What if a drought hits? It's been two years since Neverland started so I guess the next round/rounds should have something if this rule really works.

Eh, it's been established pretty much that Viz has no idea what they are doing when it comes to new series. So whatever. It's also Viz's job to introduce new manga into their markets and if they don't take the effort to do it themselves, then they can't really blame a series for not being popular.

It's not like anyone else is any better. Yen Press and Kodansha both simulpub and neither really pick stuff up right away (the only Kodansha series I can think of is Eden's Zero, even To Your Eternity took a while).

Crunchy seems to pick up everything after a year at the latest, I think red sprite getting picked up immediately then getting canceled is what jaded viz supporters

Jump website is already promoting the ''1 new anime title each season''

Maybe they want to continue the trend in the Summer and Fall seasons of 2019. :derp

It is a possibility I guess.

Jump should've advertised Vento Aureo instead of HZ. I'm pretty certain VA is gonna get a fujo push

Ultra Jump does that since JoJolion is serialized there.

I feel as if they don't want to waste their time translating a series that's just going to be canceled anyways. US readers don't have any jurisdiction on what lives or dies so what's the point of picking up a failed series? Stuff like Neverland and Black Clover were just pure luck though there could have been some under the table "wink wink nudge nudge" going on that gave Viz editors the hint that they weren't going to be canned anytime soon that's why the whole three chapter preview thing is kind of redundant since people won't be able to read the rest unless they look to Edited Mangas.

i disagree, at the end of the day, for stuff they want to sell and make money off of viz book sales, they do end up always picking the hot series anyway. It is/has yet to be determined if there truly is some benefit for series even being simulpubbed in the weekly magazine. We also dont even know how many people even subscribe/buy the magazine.
