Japan dabbing on all of the David's fans that were wishing it would fail pleases me in ways I can't even explain :feelsgoodman

they only read David & yet acted like one was superior to the other
they could have wished both would succeed, but they didn't and got btfo

LET'S GO JAPAN
I could see this becoming the next Kochikame or Chibi Maruko-chan and last forever :evil

on a serious note this is good for David too, if Japan won't be cancelled despite where it ranks then David can be the new Isobee

wouldn't mind if they stop after the nekoma match and choose more of a fast pace for it.

Better than a Toei and Pierrot
And Megalo Box was grear(animation and production wise), and Case Closed consistently looks pretty good imo.

So seems like a good enough studio. Stone has a better fate with it’s anime than Hinamaru and We Never Learn
So two shows means they're automatically better? Toei's Huggto has better animation than Megalobox and if you want consistency then Hero Mask or Boruto by Pierrot are miles better than Case Closed.

Those two are the biggest studios in Japan for a reason so it's funny to see people in the west discredit them.

The Jimoto anime adaptation definitely through me off, not really that it got one, but more that it got one unbelievably quickly. Jimoto has some gags that are kind of funny, but it can't hold a candle to David-kun's excellence. As long as David doesn't get axed, I'm fine. Speaking of Isobee, he actually made a cameo in this week's David-kun chapter

Japan vs David supposed rivalry reminded me of when KnY and Yuuna started on the same round

remember how much hate KnY got? I didn't like the first chapter but after that I was pretty much the only person on this thread that liked it and hoped it would survive
remember how Yuuna fans bragged about the first volume selling 90k while KnY didn't even rank in the top 50?
remember how triggered Yuna fans got whenever we called it Ghost Tits? remember all the whining to mods "delete this post!" "ban this guy!" "you're disrespectful to the author!" nyahahahahaha good times

Kemono Jihen surviving over Black Torch
Toteku defeating Galaxy Gangs in GFC
Kei Monri new manga is never
WE HAVE A CAR RACING MANGA!!! (btw the first chapter is out check it out, it's great)
https://shonenjumpplus.com/episode/10834108156641311105
truly we live in the best timeline

I wasn't really around back then, so this is news to me. I know they started in the same round, but being of such different genres, I'd say there are a couple differences between this rivalry and the new David vs Japan one. Since the latter 2 are both gag comedies, I'm guessing a lot of people speculating that the editors premiered 2 at the same time so they could keep the best of the 2 around for the long run. Premiering 1 didn't really play out well with Invade You, so I think a lot of people figured they'd be fighting for the Isobee/Lycopene slot and the loser would be toast

my guess is some people approach every serialization round with "there is only one spot open in the magazine so my favorite manga better get it" mentality

you can see it a little bit even currently, a lot of people want Chainsaw to survive and want Ne0 and Higuma to gtfo

At the end of the days you are free to read anything and do whatever you feel like it. Some banters here and there shouldn't affect you.
Also he missed out on the 90k story. The reason people bragged was because it debuted at 30k, and it keeps on selling (while not chart for the next 3 weeks), until on the 4th week it charted and suddenly 70k (after several reprints). Then on the 2nd volume Heiji or someone announced it has 300,000 in prints.

Oh how the things changed for Kimetsu vs Yuuna.
Volume 1 sales: Yuuna 70k, Kimetsu FLOPPED with out of bounds sales on Oricon (sold 16k after 4 weeks only!!!). So Yuuna pulled a 4xKimetsu on sales and gets a lot of Color Pages in the magazine to be pushed around a lot, while Kimetsu was saved purely by it's good rankings (the readers liked it).

Now back to late 2018... Last volume sales: Yuuna 67k (steadily dropping after it peaked in January of this year), Kimetsu 146k (steadily rising). Kimetsu now doubles what Yuuna does, has a bigger push in Color Pages, and is in top of the TOC rankings, while Yuuna is now in the bottom hoping the newbies flop. Not to mention Yuuna's anime flopped completely, not helping the sales at all.

Man, what a shift of roles if I ever saw one.

Didn't Yuuna's most recent volume also have a special edition version? If so, are those sales numbers included in its latest volume sales figure or do they chart separately, like they do for Domestic na Kanojo?

I was purposely only naming the most recent anime I could think of by them.
But ignoring writing, the production of most anime I’ve seen from them were mostly good. Or at the very least, more hits than misses.
Baki
Orange
Megalobox
D Gray Man
Yowamushi Pedal
Most Lupin III series
Trickster(show is terrible, but the episodes I saw at least looked good)

Dr.Stone will most likely be fine there

Not a clue. Only numbers for Yuuna on both geocities and Anime News Network lists only say Volume 13. It is bad either way you look it. If it was separated, Special Version sales did not show up anywhere. And if they were merged together....that is even a bigger trouble here.

I am just thankful Japanese readers liked Kimetsu despite horrible sales, or it would be another Weekly Shonen Jump Manga #XYZ Cancelled that had potential.

You have to be the first person I saw that actually dislikes or hates Chainsawman lol. All I see recently is worshiping of this manga everywhere.
While I will admit I liked it by far the most out of the new trio, I feel it is a bit overrated (at least for now).

I actually like Gokutei Higuma, don't really care about the other two.

Maybe it is, but for now I just like the MC and his motivation to keep going.
Naruto: I gonna be Ninja Hokage
Luffy: I gonna be Pirate King
Screamta: I GONNA BE MAGIC KING WITHOUT USING ANY MAGIC BUT MY GIANT SWOOOOOOORD; SUUUUUUUCK IIIIIIIIIIT!!!
Chainsaw-face: I wanna touch some titties...

So relatable. XD

^ ironically that's my issue with Chainsaw man, the mangaka panders to the internet crowd too much

but it's not surprising since they're the ones that made him famous with Fire Punch
