What’s everyone opinion on chapter 2 of Bozebeats
I agree with what Jagman said it was kind of a boring read. It still sufferes from the same issue, I personally thought it had, as chapter 1 which is a weird lack of tone like is it supposed to be a "dark serious action" manga or is it a sort of a "light hearted action" manga? Also I found the passage of time between this and last chapter as an issue, this may only apply to me though, but I would've liked to see the training the kid received, and the explanation of the weapons I still don't understand as well as the addition to a certain power that bleach used. It's only in its 2nd chapter so it could still improve, but things aren't looks to good as it stands now in my opinion anyways.

just really basic stuff that you'd expect outta its generic premise, but I think it'd shine with its character designs and weapons, because the art is really good and the color pages from chapter 1 shows interesting and cool designs. Of course it'd have to survive, no idea what the reception is like. (Battle shonen is dead fam, swallow your childhood memories, or wait for the resurgence of Kishimoto, no way that guy gets canceled if hes in Jump)

Well, this came out of nowhere. Though we'll probably never see it translated.
What’s everyone opinion on chapter 2 of Bozebeats
It's really weird how little of an impression this series is leaving on me. The art is nice but the fights/designs have no impact. It's already just random encounters and oneshots.
Everything else also feels very thin: hardly any characters, no world-building, and oddly small locations. There are still no clear short term goals (no training whatsoever) and that makes the long term ones seem weirdly over-confident.
Of course it'd have to survive, no idea what the reception is like.
He's already pretty popular on twitter. 5ch is pretty noisy too but that might have had more to do with the leaker's comment.

Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize is like Cannes Film Festival, important, but very snobbish. If the work is not an autobiography, if it does not have educational subtext, if it has no historical background or if it is not intended for a more mature audience, the chances of winning are very small.

Setta Kobayashi? so the legendary Pharaoh-kun is dead?

RIP, I will never forget that 2 times it replaced BnHA whenever it was absent

that literally changed my life, saying this changes everything is an understatement

truly a historic day in the manga industry

haters will say I'm overreacting but I say you're underreacting

I don't know about you guys but I like how English Shonen Jump promoted hxh's return by showing Kurapika since he is currently the main focus where as Japan showed Gon even though we haven't seen him for a while and has no part in the current plot.

I really like Bozebeats. I hope it succeeds.

Plus, I know this gets said every few months, but I really do feel Yuragi is going to get action heavy in time, especially given recent developments. I hope the anime isn't a disaster.

Act-Age is a really rough story as it stands. Looking purely at story, the reason why the president didn't select the MC was too weak. It was literally forced drama to drop the MC the first time and then bring her back again so that she can wow the casting directors. The MC herself also lacks characterization. I understand where she stands but I don't feel any sort of emotional connection yet.

The biggest thing that will hold Act-Age back is the art. The artist seems like they have difficulty drawing anything other than a front view of the characters. The 3/4th shots and profiles are awkwardly done. The paneling is also awkward. There also seems to be a lack of depth in the shots as well. The most important thing lacking however are the expressions. In the beginning, when asked to "show sadness", I understand that she's in a "deeper" state than the superficial acting of the other candidates but the eyes are lacking in expression. The same in the final test. The MC's expression doesn't look as severe as its implied to be when looking at a hungry wild dog ready to attack her. The double spread with the "fight scene" is also weirdly done. I didn't really understand what was going on. The lack of backgrounds is also a negative. There is too much white space and it distracts from the scene.

To put it harshly, it looks like an average to above average pixiv manga. The colour pages are well done but the actual art itself needs improvement. The artist's age might actually be holding them back here. The manga can succeed but the artist needs to improve in drawing expressions, especially for an acting manga.

Random encounters and one shots are to be expected this early in a battle manga, especially after a training time skip. The characters aren't going to return from training only to struggle against the first enemy they see.

Although I say this, I don't really see anything special in this manga. And judging by what I've seen about Act-Age, I wouldn't really care if this serialization round was a flop.

I do appreciate the varying taste, if everyone echoed the same opinion it'd be hella dull.

If they're going to skip their training arcs they should skip to somewhere interesting. I know the one shot reintroduction is common but we already had the double spread in chapter 1. Chapter 2 gives us the same event, with the same move, but twice as random (I'm hoping I missed a pun about squids on a plane).
Doesn't help that he's this strong before getting the gatling gun we've been promised.

The squid thing was most likely some random mook. He wasn't even named. That's like saying Luffy is too strong because he can beat a low ranking marine.

Your complaints seem to be things that exist in a lot of manga. A lot of them being successful battle manga.

I agree that Bozebeats isn’t really that remarkable, but more so because it’s just a typical exocism manga so far. Not particularly because of a lot of the stuff you mention. Although I do find the idea of monks using modern weapons interesting

I may be wrong on this, but its probably because that was the last colour page the series got than anything else? Plus wsj uses incredibly old, random images for their previews.

Viz stuff is pretty much unreadable unless you get the app. Dunno if its in your country or not, but you can always make a us account to download it and then just switch back to your own. Its how ive got all the japanese apps like Jump plus on my devices.

It has been a long time since Jump had two new series with such maturity, it feels like the authors know what they are doing since the beginning, the first chapter of both of them were good. Gonna read the second chapter of Bozebeats later this week.
