I did some fansubbing work myself for about 3 years and it was out of passion for the thing I was working on mostly and because I wanted to improve some of my skills and learn new things. That's my story though. It also might be the feeling of wanting to share something you consider truly great with the rest of the world. The amount of amazing manga out there that don't even have 1 chapter translated is insane, it's frustrating the US manga industry is so behind(and shit xD). The French manga scene is literally eating up anything they can.
Hey, look on the bright side. At least you guys have sport manga. We don't. ;-;

Well, I'm not from the US, but at least the selection there is getting better.

Yeah it seems he was trying to maintain his integrity as the EiC. I don't blame him though, he's not really in a position to say anything for certain.
It's their job to dodge questions at times like those, so he did a good job. It was a classic non-answer interview.

@Cavaner At least you tried with the questions, so nice effort. Next time ask them to bring over Kimetsu no Yaiba to their lineup.
And tell them I'll never forgive them for skipping it hehe

Well the manga volumes are being released in the west now, right? I think the performance of those, along with those of Haikyuu, will determine whether English Jump decide to spend the money needed to add those series to the weekly line-up

Yes, but their current lineup is very weak and as soon as it was clear that Kimetsu would stick around, they should've added it. It's extra insulting they went for Love Rush and Red Sprite, those bombed hard and they didn't fill in the gaps after they were gone. Kimetsu is an action manga, that's what is the most popular in the US, yet they still ignore it.

Just curious. Is there anything stopping them from picking "dropped" series up again if it proves to be successful in japan?

I think it is mostly because of the trouble of catching up to the current chapter after so much time, it is not easy and they cannot just start from the current one, it is the same as assuming that people are reading it illegally anyway so let's just start from the current one.

I don't remember now how many chapters they had to catch up with My Hero Academia, but We Never Learn was pretty quick between the end of the Jump Start 3 chapters and the start of the serious serialization. My Hero Academia was probably more or less like that, but we are talking about Kimetsu no Yaiba and Haikyuu here and pick them up right now to catch up is suicidal to say the least.

I still wish they would they would put in with the current chapter. Just like when Crunchyroll added Dragon Ball Super to their lineup with the newest episode. They didn't even have all the ones to catch up to the current episode lol so I think it'll be cool if English Jump puts it in. Cause either they already know people are reading it illegally and if someone doesn't want to read the current chapter of Kimetsu no Yaiba and want to read from the beginning legally, they can only wait for Viz to release them, but they'll still have the jump issues to go back on when they caught up to the first chapter.

Id rather something new be added instead of just jumping in with Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba at the current chapter. Havent you noticed how clunky it actually is to open up issues of magazines to read chapters successively.

Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba will benefit by just being done on the free site with weekly chapters once it releases there IMO.

Id want Haikyuu added (from a quality standpoint) but from a logical standpoint I think added it to the magazine kind of spoils much of the excitement, like in a sports series the win/loss recard are kind of the point and the mathes themselves so having this spoiled ruins much of the feeling of accomplishment and growth from the characters.

:celebrateVietnam Publisher just license MHA. Last year they licensed Hunter x Hunter, Sket Dance and Shaman King. Glad to see SJ titles continue to flourish in Nam after all these years.

Length is probably a big one. By the time they catch up on Haikyuu, roughly 3 years would have passed, and they’ve been releasing it monthly which is quite fast. They’re still probably 18 months from getting to that point too, so there’s zero chance of seeing it in Jump this year. I dont even want to think of Yaiba, which I assume they won’t be releasing monthly, so catching up isn’t even something they’re thinking about.

The recently translated Samon-kun chapter was filled with Toriko references.

Franxxxxxxxxxx is boring. Maybe the anime won't bore me to death but the manga so far is super boo boo.
