Still though, they shouldn't give up. Look no further than Horikoshi. I think Horikoshi's career trajectory really embodies the Jump spirit.

That or move to a different less competitive magazine. It worked for Pajama no Kanojo mangaka and now he's getting an anime adaptation this summer.

Yeah, I always remember this excerpt from that interview:

Yep. Suzuki Nakaba went through all the major magazines before finding his hit.

I wonder why Golem Hearts flopped so incredibly hard anyway, with Demon's Plan and U19 I can imagine those annoying the readers and putting off even the types who support everything but there's nothing particularly enraging about Demon's Plan that I can think of (aside from maybe the fake-out death I guess).

Has there been any negative discussion/hate on Japanese boards about the series? I can't imagine even a cancelled WSJ series not hitting the top 500 unless there's some serious issue people have with it or the creator.
Golem Hearts has been a sandbag on 5ch and matome sites and even twitter since its first chapter. People has problems with the dialogue and the poor characterization of Noah's father and even Noah himself since the first chapter. It was constantly flamed in the first 5 chapters and slowly became air recently. To be honest though, 5ch tends to be overblown but there are legitimate problems with its execution. This panel:

I know what's happening since I read the previous chapter but this transition from the top panel to bottom one is almost funny. People said that they laughed when they weren't supposed to because its just that weirdly drawn. There was an incredible sense of unpleasantness throughout the series for me. That in itself isn't bad as Bakugou is thoroughly unpleasant in the first 10 chapters but Horikoshi was able to properly deal with it. Heroaca was also able to make you sympathize with the characters, as does OP, Naruto and the other big hits. I felt nothing here. There was no "crack" for me to "enter" the story.

I honestly blame the editor for this failure. They couldn't edit the dialogue properly and couldn't help the mangaka properly structure his story.

Regardless of whether I have liked or not these titles, I feel for these guys. They probably spent months creating characters, arcs, design, background, dreaming of being next to their idols, dreaming of making a career. It must be hard. Especially in a country where work is placed above all else.
Well, this is a business and the most competitive one among all magazines, they should be happy just to be there for a moment, they will have more opportunities, if not in Jump, in other magazines, I think some authors get too fixated about Jump and that's why they don't return anymore, I think it is the case of Naoki Iwamoto although we will never know if my supposition is true. Jump has the readers as its ultimate judges and we know full well that readers are merciless, we see it here everyday. hahaha

I did not know the Japanese hated Golem Hearts so much. Was there some other series that was hated so much by them?

If I recall correctly, 2ch pretty much has a hate boner for MHA, and it's apparently the reason why Hori stopped posting to twitter as much.

Basically for the same reason 4chan hates it: it's popular. It has its flaws, but a lot of them make it out like it's the worst thing in Jump.

Man I usually only look up 4chan to have a good laugh, they seem to just hate everything in the current line up

Are they people of the shounen age group or older people?
And asking again since i was ignored last time:
Are the Shonen Jump manga sequels in other magazines (such as Fist of the Blue Sky) good? Or are they pure cashgrab?

Nah, i still want my character to stand next to Luffy annually at Jump Festa billboard.
Can’t do that at Sunday or Shonen Mag.:spaz

WAY older. Still not as old as your average Jump reader in Japan.

Fist of the Blue Sky is actually pretty good taken by itself its a solid story with memorable characters that's worthy of the Fist of the North Star name and certainly better than all those shitty Gaiden stories. The rest various in terms of quality. The new Kinnikuman is an obvious cashgrab to bank on nostalgia since people didn't like Kinnikuman Nisei and you can tell with the reintroduction of the old cast via "time travel" that they were more bankable than the new characters could ever be. Ninku Second Stage was good, honestly doesn't really feel like an sequel for older audiences but a continuation of the original. Virtually everything Saint Seiya related after the original is a cash grab and bad including Next Dimensions which only serve to fuck up the canon even more. The list goes on. I suppose Shaman King Flowers count which a lot of people hate but I thought was just fine and hope Takei is working on continuing it come Spring and I guess Jojo counts since it became a seinen manga during Part 7 which many consider the best installment in the franchise.

It does sound like a hollow defeat having to move to a significantly less popular magazine because you couldn't make it with the big boys in Jump. Instead of sharing a billboard with the Monkey D. Luffy you have to share it with....Ippo?....Conan? Feels like a downgrade.

Not even hardcore Saint Seiya fans like that and they're worse than DBZ fans.
