Horikoshi read one piece when he was a baby, another influence.

Fairy Tail in Shonen Mag have many characters design taken directly from One Piece.

This made me smile. What a waste of resources, talent and of everyone's time. How hard would it have been to give it at least the Ushio to Tora treatment. Now I'm sad.

As an anime only person for it, episode 2 and so on were entertaining. I dont know if the series did its job in making me want to read the manga, the anime feels a bit badly/awkwardly written at times.

Even though I did not read the original manga, I expected a lot from this anime.
I dropped on the third episode, because I do not want to waste my time with this thing.
I intend to read the manga some day.

But BLeach anime should be returning, the manga is complete and the game is insanely popular. No way would they continue to sit around. If HxH, Berserk, LOGH, and JJBA could come back then so could BLeach.

To say that it is because both are fans of Toriyama is a lazy excuse. Horikoshi, Murata, Nakaba, Kishimoto, they all are crazy for Toriyama and yet their arts are different.

Rave was an adventure/battle manga that belonged to the WSJ's rival. I bet a MAGAZINE SUPER PUSH happened in 1999. XD

Many say that Samurai Deeper Kyo was a response to Kenshin's success.

RG Veda, Shurato and Samurai Troopers were a response to the success of Saint Seiya.

Early FT definitely looked a lot like OP's art. That's where people claim Mashima copied Oda, when in fact, Mashima was still developing his style at the time. His style is completely different now.

Yeah because the anime made Taikoubo into a fool.

Taikoubou is one of the smartest protagonist in SJ. Because it is an old manga the protagonist has to use hit wits to win fight. No friendship power up.

In episode 1 before he sees Dakki there are 2 major fights to show how smart he is.

The dude with the mask doesn’t show up until a major arc happened in between.

A simple google search will reveal all the huge similarities in designs and sometimes story-telling. Lets not go there lol

Oda never went to Art school. He went to Kyushu Tokai University majoring in architecture but dropped out after one year and then went on to become an assistant to various mangaka.

Story-telling wise, they may be similar in this regard, but so does most adventure fantasy mangas like them. Design-wise, the only similarity that exists is the early art style of Mashima's, that's it. Nothing else about their designs anywhere similar.

I've been saying that for years. Calling Fairy Tail a One Piece rip-off is actually more praise than it deserves.
