I didn't like the first 5 chapters of Act-Age, but I hope someone will keep translating it, maybe I'll change my mind with the new characters that were introduced in the 7th chapter.
I read it as the editors are playing it too safe, which he's right about. The editors of Shonen Jump tend to be in their 20s and maybe up to mid 30s as stated by Nakano in his TBS radio interview. These are people that began reading the magazine either just before, during or just after Jump peaked at 6.53 million first print. Sure its pointless to try to raise print numbers again but its the significance that matters more than the number. SJ became the top manga magazine despite being, as he puts it, late to the scene. They're still the top but if they want to grow again, not just in numbers but as a brand then they'll need to start pulling some big moves. The editors should also start suggesting controversial events for manga like
fridging Deku's mom or a student or even Uraraka ala Gwen Stacy
There will possibly be huge backlash but like the recent Darlifra fiasco, the attention will be back on the magazine. If its well written, unlike Darlifra, then it'll possibly go even more up.
I don't disagree with him, I just find it convenient a guy with whom the editors have always been soft, want more pressure to the new generation.
About insert controversial things to increase sales/popularity. I don't know. It seems kind of cheap for me. But I think they could free the authors of this formulaic structure, where nobody dies and there is little ambiguity.
Templars gather in first page. Then we get laid down hair gyaru, which is too sexy and cute for this world. Seems found Note doesn't give any information, and by blood analysis, it gives a lot of results from all world and all times. Chapter ends with presentation of new Ark Lab member who dress in chinese clothes

I really love how little Noah cared about walking in on the gyaru, a high school girl, taking a bath lol. I hope that at the bare minimum, the first ranked chapter for Noah's Notes is at least as high as what Jujutsu got.
I think if anything the DarliFra nonsense from this week has taught us is that creators simply use romance to stir up crowds just to get a reaction. Can you imagine how triggered you have to be to actually send death threats to the creators and voice actors over a fictional pairing... you can't make this stuff up. Pairing and shipping is fun and something to create dialogue on to pass the time but if it's more than that you need a reality check.
In other news BC's opening is really good. But idk why people are surprised or have a twinkle in their eyes over it. Studio Pierrot has always done two things right: character designs and music. They never fail in this regard. Naruto and Bleach ops are simply iconic. Madhouse and A-1 Pictures would come after SP when it comes to music and osts.
This whole Franxx shipping controversy is giving me end of Naruto vibes lol. As someone who doesn't watch the anime, I'm both confused and amused at whatever shitstorm is going on.
Yeah what were they thinking? Kids won't be able to afford those boxsets so I don't see the point in even releasing it to begin with. DBZ Super was released via boxsets but that has a loyal older audience attached to it.
Doesn't matter, it's been already pointed out that because of its timeslot the discs weren't ever going to be flying off the shelves. Not gonna excuse the AHHHgate with newbie voice actor or the slow beginning with uninteresting characters, but regardless of content I'd like to assume it was expected.

I don't even think its doing well ratings wise either. It got people to buy the manga but these boosts tend to not last long. The only thing left is the card game and upcoming PS4 game at this point.
Looking at the prices Amazon JP wanted 18,360¥ (170.98$) for the first BC Bluray box. Now they "just" want 13,876¥ (129.22$). The DVD version isn't much cheaper. Considering that there are 51 episodes and each box contains 10 episodes I really wonder who their target audience for these boxes is. Do they think there are many parents willing to pay so much money per box and a total of over 500$ for all boxes?

The target audience for these box sets is same one as regular late night anime, otaku of both gender. No parent is going to shell out money for these expensive boxes, even if its much more cost-effective than collecting in the regular way of 2-3 episodes per BD. Plus, they can simply record the show, though there is a limit. Nichigo shows are the only ones who regularly released "normal" BDs and are also the only ones who actually sold more than 10k. The shows in Heroaca's current timeslot barely sell 1k units with Time Bokan not even getting a BD release as the target audience isn't going to buy any discs. They're more focused on toys. Heroaca is technically the best selling show in terms of discs.
You dont even need to watch PAD as it airs since they do a great job adding it to youtube for a week, if you dont mind a two day wait. Wish TV Tokyo did that for all their animes.
Food Wars switched to box sets because it flopped hard on BD/DVD singles to offset costs. It really does make me ponder why they're making more seasons since its not particularly profitable but at the same time its probably cheap to make.
