I dont think any of us know what Jump rising truly even is. All Jujutsu Kaisen, Ziga, and Noahs Notes got were extra promotion before the first chapter released. But anyways, you're thinking of Jump Super Push

Kimetsu wasn’t immensely popular right out of the gate. It took a while for its sales to increase and for it to gain popularity.

And here in the US it doesn’t have a large following.

Red Sprite was added at the same time as Neverland and Love Rush, they picked up the whole batch knowing a couple would probably get insta-canned since losing multiple big series at the same time and would've had a very empty magazine otherwise, you know this already.

They probably could've picked up Kimetsu back then (I'm not sure why they didn't tbh, I know it wasn't too strong at that point but they just needed new stuff regardless of it being successful or not) but It's not like they specifically picked Red Sprite, it just happened to start in the batch after Bleach and Nisekoi ended. If Red Sprite had started next to Yuuna and Kimetsu next to Neverland we would've had Kimetsu instead.

They've been really good with their choices since then, they picked the 3 successes from the batch of 6 last year and everything they've avoided was an instant flop (except Spring Weapon but it really should've been cancelled right away).

Lets remind ourselves how close to cancellation Kimetsu was when it started. You can't blame Viz for not picking it on the fly when not even Jump was sure it would survive. Be glad that the first volume comes out this summer so you can support it.

They added Shokugeki pretty late on during the anime hype and (I think) just after releasing the first volume, so there's still a chance for Kimetsu. I guess we'll see once v1 comes out in english.

According to the Wikipedia page they added Food Wars to the magazine November 3 2014 at chapter 93 (the anime started April 3 2015) and volume 1 released August 5 2014. By the time November rolled around and Food Wars was added to the magazine they had only released volumes 1 and 2 with volume 3 coming out about a month later. I personally think if Viz wanted to add a series despite a large gap again to the magazine they would have added Haikyu since who knows if that will even be caught up by the time the series ends at this rate.

There's no point in suddenly adding Haikyuu when they've spent years of multiple weekly chapters on their free site, having a big gap after such an effort to catch up would just be odd.

I think they'll catch up early-mid 2019 at the current rate? Haikyuu definitely won't be done by then, heck with how long matches are lasting lately and how hyped Nekoma vs Karasuno has been the entire series I wouldn't be too surprised if the current match is still going.

I meant adding Haikyu when they started releasing the volumes. Keep in mind the chapters on the free site are basically just "previews" and removed as soon as the volume releases.

As for catching up I did the math about a week and a half ago

They do a volume a month (~10 chapters, sometimes less) Looking at where both currently are Viz at 207 and JP at 299 they are quite far and will take ~10 months (assuming my math is right) just to catch up where JP is now. Assuming Haikyu doesn't end or take any extended breaks in that time there's now another ~40 chapters adding another 4 months meaning unless Viz goes faster we're still over a year for them catching up.

I would think closer to October or November for Viz catching up. Plus Haikyu seems to have quite a large backlog in Japan. The last released volume was 31 ending with 278. The most recent chapter is 303 so assuming there's always a large gap like that Viz can't really get us all caught up before adding to the series to the magazine because there will always be a ~30 chapter gap.

Kimetsu doesn't exactly have the most complex plot in the world, a 1 page intro is probably enough tbh.

- Muzan is a demon who can turn others into his demon servants (the strongest servants being called the Upper Moons)
- an organisation of demon hunters fight them because demons eat people. The strongest demon hunter are a group known as the pillars, and they're all lead by a mysterious scarred man
- Tanjirou passed an exam to become a hunter at the same time as a coward with an odd sleeping ability, a permanently angry guy, a girl who only thinks in terms of order given to her, and PIG ASSAULT

That's honestly probably enough to mostly enjoy the series. Sure you wouldn't know the characters very well but you would know who they are, and the series is primarily about cool fights and powers anyway. Plus the anime will be starting for new readers to learn who everyone is.

You people complain about Viz but it's not like we know what all happens behind the scenes. Yeah it would be cool to have Kimetsu in the issue but maaaaybe there's a reason why it isn't. The editor in chief of English jump even says he wishes they had every manga in the Japanese jump into the English one but they just can't do it. Probably cause of politics and such idk. Plus having Viz being co owned by Japanese companies can have it's pros and cons.

I just honestly wish we knew what all happens bts then maybe we can come to an understanding.
