Technically half the series has been the most hated arc, it went to crap when Azami appeared way back at ch 130 or something. The past year or so however was a big improvement on the earlier Azami stuff since it returned to focusing on the cooking again (getting ridding of all the dumb cheating stuff) and I think the anime is just about at that part.

I swear Inoue is incredibly unfair to other mangaka. He doesn't put out any new chapters in a while and suddenly wants to draw the guys from Shohoku and decides to release a rearranged version of Slam Dunk. The first 6 released this month immediately fill up the #2-#7 spots on every daily chart on their first day and will probably do so for the rest of the weekend. Bunkyodo's daily updated weekly chart already has them in the top 10 of the week. I wouldn't be surprised if all 20 rearranged volumes do a combined 500k, which might actually be a low estimate.
Its not like he even needs the notoriety to begin with. He's already a famous author in Japan. But I can't help but think these Slam Dunk re-release hide something deeper. Maybe a remake in the works?
Depends on how long the new Gegege no Kitaro anime goes on for, I can't imagine a Slam Dunk Kai getting anything other than the pre-One Piece timeslot.

The story doesn't focus on the SWs.
Instead it focuses on a kid that apparently looks up to Luffy. He says he can't stretch his body like luffy but what he "discovered" that with his "human" body, the only thing that will stretch is his penis. You can see in the montage that he then sets out training his penis to stretch it as much as he can. In the last page, his "dream" is to "Become the Penis King". Its a homage to Luffy's line and it doesn't actually have that kind of adult nuance as this is very much a kids manga.

It actually is surprising as dramas usually don't do much for their original source, especially when they're manga. But of course, this is a sequel to Hana Yori Dango, the best selling shoujo manga which pulled in huge ratings back when it originally aired. It was also quite well done as I didn't really shake my head too much watching it a few years back. This sequel is also pulling in big ratings.

Toei still holds the rights last time I checked and to be honestly the original Slam Dunk anime had poor production qualities even back then and was canned before completing the story. I honestly don't want a remake if Toei is going to treat it like how they did with Sailor Moon Crystal.

Do you know if Gallop still holds the rights fo Eyeshield 21? Even though it's a much less probable remake, if it will have one I want to know if another studio could pick up the gauntlet.
